There are apparently several different clones of R.D.
Ours came from A.R.E., many years ago, and it is the most-colorful I've seen.

Angel Gardens (Florida) has it listed as available in both quart and gallon size on their website.

Roses Unlimited has it in their list of this year's varieties, but I don't know if they still have it available.

I have always received nice plants from both of these vendors.

jerijen, good to know. i think i got a wacky variety of zd, and it just is lousy, but, again...squatters rights, and i can't get rid of it (oh, if someone would just STEAL my ZD and betty boop!! i don't have the heart to dig up a 10 year old rose!) so, anyway, don't want a miss on rosette delizy.

jacqueline, thanks, i saw it on the website!! (grandmothers hat), called them, but they aren't shipping it, for some reason, they have an 'available now' ship list, and it didn't appear, called them, she didn't know why, but, dang it, they can't ship it!!

plantlover, sent an email to angel gardens to inquire, as, while it is available, i couldn't order it...says that quantity (1) is unavailable to ship. haven't tried roses unlimited yet, started writing this and realized i didn't check that! thanks for the tips!

oh WHY don't i do this in the winter?? y'no, in the winter, i just can't imagine i am going to be as obsessed with roses as i am once spring gets here! i think THAT is the problem. guess i oughta put my order in now for next spring!

in all this nuts, i picked up the phone and called Antique Rose Emporium, who is in the state, and they have her!!! it is not listed as in stock on the website, but they have a few put aside, i guess for sale, to prevent oversell on the internet.

anyway, i am thrilled! and if anyone is following this thread in the same desire, call them!!

I also got Wm. R. Smith, Vesuve, and Reine des Violettes.

AND found a source for Grandmother's Hat.

sienna, no, burlington has it, waiting a bit to order. don't know much about planting bands, but i will. there is a surcharge for texas that i don't want to pay twice!

FWIW, while it is SAID to be a smaller Tea, 'Rosette Delizy can easily make 8 ft. upward, and 5 ft. across. I wouldn't call that particularly small, unless you're comparing it to a mature 'Marie van Houtte.'

A problem arises when we say "small," because in fact a healthy mature Tea Rose is NOT going to be "small," except in relation to, maybe, a Rambler!

It FOOLS us into doing things like planting Tea Roses on 4 ft. centers, when in fact, 8-ft. centers are more reasonable.

Eight foot centers are what I have planned for my new bed so I ought to be okay there. The one I put in a couple of years ago has rose spaced something like six foot apart and I keep thinking there is more space there, but I know there is not.

jeri! wow, she is a big gal! i don't even want to know how big MvH gets! (ok, tell me! i have her planned at 6 feet diameter??) hmmm, even in Texas where we do go dormant for four months or so?? And I know teas don't like to be pruned. One day you won't be able to find my house!!

Rosefolly, crowding is a problem for me. I do have my 'anchor' plants safe, sometimes a throw miniatures in to take the space til the big ones grow up. I know I have overbought (and i got le vesuve, too. a monster i hear!). I keep on taking more and more grass in as beds, assuring DH it will be less to mow!!

I had better call it quits. Also, need to move on some roses (betty boop, for one, if anyone wants a mature one in the dallas area!!) that I have fallen out of love with!

And I'm GUESSING that in your area, 6 ft. is likely just fine.

You know what I want to do, when I'm in TX in May? I want to see that Tea Rose garden in Chambersville. I can skip visiting ARE this time, and go there.

My roses came today! The first time I have EVER shipped roses. Five, two Rosette Delizy (nice size! soooo excited to have this), Le Vesuve, Wm. R. Smith, and Reine Des Violettes.

The latter was small, but pretty good shape!

I really need to call it quits on the roses...let's see if I can do it!! One thing, I am moving some on to other homes! I put them, planted in 2 to 5 gallon pots, on my street corner with a sign that says, FREE ROSES!

They are gone within the hour! I just CAN'T throw them away.
