Comments (4)Well not knowing which saw you have (primer Bulb or not) or how old I'm make a guess. Depending on how old, the carb. diaphrams get stiff and will not pulse the fuel through the carb when you pull the cord, Not likely unless it really old or you got carb. cleaner on the diaphrams and weaken them further. Also, IMO the needle may not be unseating properly by either weak diaphrams, worn needle, or just sticking, Thats whay a tap on the carb sometimes helps for awhile. IMO Polans are sometimes tempermantal getting started after setting for awhile (this could be 1 hour, 1 day, or a month IMO). I just prime mine with carb. cleaner, choke if off and pull the rope usually fires by the thrid pull. I also spary the SHYT out of mine all the time with the engine running to keep the gum free. I done this dozens of time with my old lombard that's 40 years old and still runs great. and the bore, piston, rings, crank, and connection rods, look like new. Most mechanic's use the crap all the time, but you have to make up your own mind if you have dought's. Zama's IMO aren't as easy as Wabro's to get clean and keep running right. If eveything is clean I would adjust the carb. Depending on what year they make it hard for you to turn the screw. usually 1/8 turn CCW richen them up enough beings they are adjusted very lean from the factory IMO now days....See MoreHusqvarna chainsaw dies when hot
Comments (3)the description you are giving tells me the ignition module/coil is breaking down when hot.very common problem it will start missing then just die.wait about thirtymins to an hour and it will start and do the same thing. you might try some of the local repair shops for a used one. an index card should set you air gap...See MoreHomelite chainsaw won't start
Comments (5)Your chain can be turned by hand right and not binding up causing the clutch drag then engine down when you try to start it???? IMO Your going to have try to clear the comb chamber beings it's flooding. Several reasons it maybe flooding. operator causing the flooding. carb. needle/seat leaking, weak spring not cutting the fuel off. carb. dirty (probably most likely causing needle to raise off the seat alowing gas to flow (not on new carb.)(not likely beings you replace the carb providing you installed it correctly?). To clear the saw of flooded condition you will remove the spark plug spray it with carb. cleaner, spray carb. cleaner down the spark plug hole (3 or 4 second blast) pull the rope ( this will remove all the oily gas and reprime the comb. chamber). Depending on how much gas has filled the crank case you may have to pull the rope several time repeating the blast of carb. cleaner couple of time. Now you got the saw clear of all the mixed gas (oil in gas has to be right precentage or it floods and spark plug will not lite off raw gas sloching around in the comb. chamber.) install the plug and and attempt to start. it should fire right off the carb. cleaner (rev up then die) if it dies prime it again with 2 second blast of carb. cleaner down the carb. venturi. it should fire and rev up after couple of pulls on the rope. Hopefully it will take off and run. With new carb. install properly it should take off and run after the flooded condition is removed providing the H and L setting are close to let it run???...See MorePuolan Pro Chainsaw dies when let off throttle.
Comments (5)Ok sounds like a unit that has sat and not been used for a while . Ensure you have fresh fuel . Just a little tender loving care is all that needed . I would get a new plug , you can clean and keep the current plug for a spare. The carb High and low speed jets can be dremeled to accept a slotted screw driver later . If not you should be able to find the proper adjustment tool cheaper than fifty bucks on ebay or Kjiji . I have them all since I repair saws routinely. Find a quality carb cleaner solution. I use to use Lucas top end cleaner , but Startron available at Napa is a great carb cleaning agent . One ounce mixed with you premix is all that is needed. The fuel filter will be within the fuel tank at the end of the fuel line . Use a piece of wire to fish it out or long nose needle nose pliers. I personally do not admire Poulan saws , but that's another story lol . One other point is to ensure your choke setting is set properly , you can verify buy checking the carb venture when time permits . Yeah you running very rich by the plug dark colouration most likely . When you make your next fuel mix go with a premium 2 stroke oil and run it at 50:1 ratio. I prefer Amsoil but any premium grade such as Echo or Stihl will suffice . Keep us posted . Good Luck !...See More- 12 years ago
