Undoing dog urine damage.
Comments (13)To: emerald1951 I know it's been 11 years since you posted your comment on dog urine and plants, however, I felt the strong need to educate you on the subject, "I quote" I know that a male dogs urine doesn't do damage, but the female dogs will... First of all what female dog have you ever saw hike it's leg to urinate? 🤔 I think I can answer that for you, the answer would be none, female dogs destroy lawns by urinating on them, " you know the patches of round dead grass" female dogs and puppies urine. Make dogs mark territory by hiking their lemon everything and anything in their yard and sometimes even inside the house, plants are a natural thing for them to do this on. Moral of the story here is ALL DOGS, ALL ANIMALS and yes even HUMAN URINE WILL KILL YOUR LAWN ,SHRUBS, FLOWERS, GARDENS, AND PLANTS! IF YOU have dogs you need to take this into consideration when doing your landscaping, house plants keep off floor where the dog has easy access to them. It's not the dogs fault, Its ours, Good luck, and I meant no harm to anyone, I just wanted to make sure she had wrong information.......See MoreDog urine smells like cat urine
Comments (1)I suggest allowing the floor to completely dry, and if the odor is still there then contact a store that specializes in hardwood floors and ask the best way to treat your floor. You could damage the floors even more if the wrong cleaning products are used. If she has urinated in the area several times then the subfloors may have absorbed the odor.....hopefully that hasn't happened. Do hope she's feeling better.....did she have a UTI?...See MoreOutdoor dog urine smell...
Comments (6)I know this is an old question.. I was looking on line today to try and resolve my stinking side yard...I used SweetPDZ.. and I guess it works initially, but is very fine granules that will get tracked inside and believe me, you don't want that stuff all over your house! It is meant to be put in horse stalls and shoveled out along with the wood chips or whatever they use in there, most horses don't come inside.. it's also heavy and once wet.. really wet. I made the mistake of removing pea gravel and putting in sweet PDZ and rubber mulch thinking I could rinse it down, the sweet PDZ would take care of the smell and the rest would sink into the ground. Doesnt' help that this area gets little sun. So, I have removed the rubber mulch and sweet PDZ and oh man, not an easy job for an older lady to take on. I have also used the Simple green outdoor spray, it works and has a very pleasant scent, but doesn't last long and you go thru a lot of it! We have 4 dogs, 2 large, 2 medium.. This space is not huge, but right outside the garage side door and when we've had ill or old dogs, they got right to this same spot since it's close to the door which didn't help the matter.. .that's when I tried the rubber mulch to be softer under foot. Lawn won't grow and I've thought about ground cover and now pondering doggy artificial turf with special gravel and such used underneath for drainage and keeping the smell down. I read that with that you still use simple green to wash it down or you'll end up with smelling fake grass. I'm amazed at how real some of the new fake grass looks... Maybe it's time to build a ramp out of the kitchen door so they come out in to a larger area of the yard to spread the stink around a bit! My mom had the same problem, and until i came over and scrubbed down her walkway with bleach water nothing worked and she tried it all. working with dirt is a bit more of a challenge. I just sprayed a half and half sprayer full of regular simple green to the pea gravel and dirt that is the worst area dn letting it dry.. hoping that will help a bit.. guess we'll see.. it's at least non- toxic, and a bit less expensive than the marketed dog spray, albeit minus the enzyme's which I'm thinking play a major role....See MoreBest baseboards for dog urine
Comments (10)I did PVC base in the last house I remodeled due to time constraints. Doesn't require any painting, just fill in the nail holes and/or screws with the right caulking and you are done. You have to use the right fasteners. Looked nice but attracted dust. I didn't stay long enough to see if there was a good solution for that. If he is going near the door, he might be attempting to go out, but not able to hold it long enough for you to notice him. Maybe a dog door would help? I have a tiny one that is almost blind and the dog door is Rottweiler size. I didn't think she'd be trainable to it, but one day I saw her just strolling in! For male dogs, I have used belly bands with success. I put in half or full maxi pad so they don't have to be washed as often. I put a plastic bin on top of the washer for the dirty ones and washed separately. Good luck!...See MoreEithne
