Looking for a red rose red hybrid tea
Comments (37)I looked at Kardinal on an image search and some of them look red, but some look pink and some look more orange. I think the camera, the culture, and the lighting conditions influence the photographs so it's hard to tell which is really true red. I used to have an American beauty growing up, I thought it was really red, but now I read it's on the pink side. It was not a hybrid tea, it was more like a big huge bush with red roses on it. It's probably good to go to rose shows and nursery to see them in person before selection a color that is the red that you want....See MoreBeautiful, Very Fragrant Hybrid Tea(s)
Comments (12)I don't know how hardy it is in your zone, but Double Delight ranks very high on my list! Fragrant Cloud is another favorite, but I realize it has a flower color you will probably either love or hate. Few are agnostic about Fragrant Cloud. (I also don't know if Fragrant Cloud would be hardy for you.)...See MoreBest hybrid teas (fragrant, cut well) to winter protect in zone 5
Comments (26)OK, remember, you ASKED for it. Don't blame me when you're out of control like me :). SOUTH AFRICA..I know it's a flori, but it blooms nonstop. Ruffled, gorgeous yellow blooms that cover the bush in long sprays all summer It was in the back garden next to Dainty Bess. Great for cutting; lasts in the vase. PINK PEACE...huge, vivid pink blooms. RED INTUITION...this was on your list, remember? Order from Steve Singer @ Wisconsin Roses. CAMILLE PISARRO...a yellow creamy stripey. Love the coloration. Maybe add 'OUT OF AFRICA' for your MIL's garden since she wanted an orange? And pair it with some Tiki Torch coneflowers...you'd be glowing! That's a lot of orange. Enough enabling....I'm out of here. We have a date in the spring for you to come back to dig up some hostas, remember? -terry...See MoreVote for the best red rose!
Comments (67)My very best red is Veteran’s Honor. I think it might be close to my very best rose of any color, with such huge perfect blooms produced in great abundance. The quality is especially stark in the hot summer months when many roses burn and shrivel while Veterans Honor still looks florist shop perfect. My very best highly fragrant rose is Firefighter. Again , a most generous bloomer, and always saturated with true rose scent: I’ve seen Munstead Wood often at the public garden and understand why others like is so much. I’ll have to try one out. My favorite color of red is Loves Promise. It’s a pure black red that is at the same time soft velvet and bright electric. Alas my plant is young and I don’t have a great pic, but this gives some idea of what it looks like: Interesting that Helen started the thread 8 years ago when she was new to roses and she now probably has a greater collection than Tom Carruth and his Huntington Gardens. So @bayarea_girl_z10a_ca, what is your best red rose?...See MoreAquaEyes 7a NJ
