Planting climbing roses near house/trees/roadside?

I got thre climbing rose bare roots fomr Walmart today and have been thinking where to place them.

I read that the climbing cane has to be horizontal to make it thrive better but I don't have a trellis or a fence.

I have a few ideas but would like your opinions.

I wanted to try planting one by the roadsied, but where I live, we have lots of snow and it will get exposed to a ton of salt and sand and all the pollutants from vehicles in addition to the piles of snow from the snow plowers.

Can they be grown to climb a tree?

If I planted them near the house, could I tie strong strings nailed to the house? Make them climb the roof?

Just not sure where they will do best...
