Nope it is not going to happen this year. After going over the budget, WE decided that I have already spent way too much on roses this year.
I guess the fact that I just bought a super expensive bike did not help the matter. ( I don't know how to ride a bike either.)

I need to wait and dream and dream. I guess that is half the fun. In the meantime, I will enjoy the other 60+ roses that I have and make rose pedal jam and sour orange marmalade.

You haven't hung out here long enough to know that we can be very creative enablers...

I would like to be the first to suggest that you use your new bike for a paper route so you can afford more roses!!!

LOL...you sound like me! I already have 4 on order from Angel Garden's European import list for 2013! I can't wait!

I just order them from DA website. I guess now I have to start the paper route. They better live and prosper, I paid $30 per plant. Ouch! Thats the most I have paid for roses. The record until now was $24.

Does the DH still buy flowers for you? Even when I was single and bought my plants, if it produced flowers and somehow I croaked it, I figured I got more enjoyment out of it and spent less money than for a bouquet that lasts a week.

If you'd like some entertainment, there's a great thread about how to 'count' roses...

1. Mini roses don't count.
2. Floribundas 'because they are not full-fledged hybrid teas' count as half.
3. Shrubs, Climbers, Ramblers, Old Garden Roses, etc. don't count because they can be considered "landscaping."
4. Roses not planted 'or in pots' don't count. (See the "Territory" Clause).
5. Roses that were discounted count as half.
6. Roses received as gifts don't count.
7. Odd numbers must always be rounded off, if you're out of room, round the number down. For every one-hundred, divide by two. This is known as a "stock split."
8. Roses whose names you don't know or can't remember obviously don't count.
9. Roses that are on Shovel Prune Watch don't count; the roses that replace them also don't count as they cancel each other out.

10. Duplicate/multiples count as one as they are considered a set.
11. Roses that are not planted in a bed don't count. (See the "Landscaping" Addendum).
12. Bareroots don't count because they are dormant when they arrive; once you plant them and they start to bud out, well, you've already done your count, so you will just have to wait until next season, by which time you'll be sure you already counted them.
13. Mislabeled roses don't count because you probably already have one of them somewhere, which has already been counted once, probably.
14. Anything less than Grade 1 counts only a fraction, and since fractions are not whole numbers they can be rounded off (remember the rounding off rule).
15. Roses that you think you might give away can be excluded from the count, makes it easier to part with them; if, by some chance you wind up keeping them, oh well.
16. HTs that get huge and wind up taking more than one space should be counted twice, but remember the duplicate rule.
17. Now if, after counting, you have under a hundred roses, you must immediately place some orders and they don't count because they're in transit and therefore not in the ground.
18. Roses ordered on a whim really don't count because they were never on a list. (This is known as the List Rule: If it's not on a list, it doesn't exist, most likely).
19. If you cut many roses and give them away, this is considered Charity, and everyone knows that you get special allowances for Charity, which brings us to...
20. Tax Deductions. (see Claiming Roses as Dependents).
    See? You really didn't have as many as you thought you did! Time to go order some more!

lagomorphmom - I love your counting rules. I think I do most of them. That's how I ended up with more roses than I could find places for in my garden.

Hey Rosetom check out the link below. I have a DARK NIGHT coming in a few weeks from an Ebay seller. Not sure where or how he/she got them, but they've had several to sell. My winning bid was $32, and one after mine I believe went for $34, and another at $46 I think.

Rose de Rescht needs patience. It takes several years to develop into an impressive plant with quick repeat.

Spring 2013 will be mostly David Austin's and a few florabunda's. Fall 2012 will be mostly mini/miniflora's with 2 HT's. ( By the way, I've got 2 Dark Nights that are leafing just beautifully. Got then last spring, 2011 from Edmund's. :P )

First I like to tell you that how invaluable your blog and your advice here has been to me. Everyday, my kids and I will read your blog; they for the puppies and me for the roses and echeverias. Your plants has been a source of inspiration.

Second, I have learned that I need pations with most roses in my yard since they are mostly DA's and other own root roses. But my problem with RdR is that after 2 months in the ground it has not leafed yet. I do not see any swelled up bud eyes either. I still one month to claim refund for them. I hope it decide either to wake up or die before then. I hate pulling a perfectly good plant out just because it is late.
