Carol, Happy Happy Birthday! You kind of get a twofer week with Valentines Day being just a few days after your Birthday. I guess that means you are sick of the heartsy style of things you get (hehehehe)and in red and pink.:-) (I'm certain tha tyou always get the coolest of gift) Have your been able to see atop the snowline yet to be able to get out to celebrate? Oh my heavens, I had no idea this post was here! Thank you all so much for the lovely roses, the birthday greetings, and the kind words! I seldom have time to visit here anymore, life does get in the way. We've been busy in the garden, we tore off our old deck and built a new one which meant moving our huge Clementina and William R. Smith. A miserable job and I am praying they survive their move! I lost my precious Beauregard the basset hound in September and I felt he took my heart with him for months but we have two new bassets now, Barney and Harvey and they are a hand full! Harvey is a rescue who had been abused and Barney is a puppy who is full of mischief. So, you see, life has been chaos here. I have missed you all and hopefully can visit more often once things settle down to a dull roar. Thank you again for remembering me! Thank you, thank you, thank you everyone!!! I am having a great time visiting my family here in Ohio. Birthday was good...lunch with my cousin who happens to be my BFF, pedicure, and my mam's cooking for dinner. Annie, I'm hoping to make it to jungle Jim's next week! Kate, thank you. I hope the pugs are doing well and still dancing in their tutus. We miss our Beauregard terribly but we have two new rescues. Here are Harvey and Barney. Harvey is an older fella and Barney is a puppy who is a holy terror that likes to eat my roses. We love them.

Funny that you mention that. I am moving both of my Bettys because they completely cover my arbor and both of my Westerlands. We can no longer even walk under the arbor. I planted two Venosa Violaceas last year to keep W company and hope they will contain themselves. The hard part is finding a spot for Betty because she is such a grower and a bloomer!

I really like Venosa Violaceas ( I have two of them) and think it will be a good combo with Westerland. Betty is a beautiful clem and I like the fact that she is fragrant and blooms profusely but heavens she is a monster. I knew she got big but had no idea *how* big she really would get. I left my Betty where she was and moved Buff Beauty, it was easier :-). In your case, that wouldn't work. Honestly, she scares me a little bit..
