False Fence Covering for Wall/Chain Link?

Hi all! Suburban back yard, rectangle shape, in Glendale, CA. Blank slate... grass in the middle, beds around edges. All beds are currently empty. East and west sides - chain link fence, good condition, 6 ft. Back wall south-facing cinderblock 7 feet high, bare. Bright, hot, blazing hot.
Crazy idea?: Cover the wall with false front fencing by hanging redwood fence boards or grape stakes onto the wall and fence. Use a horizontal board or thin beam along the top made of redwood/cedar. Nail/screw the vertical boards from this ledger board. Build several panels. The ledger board rests on the top of the wall/fence (or connected w zip ties or anchors/screws). End up with a false fence around the yard, but not a fixed fence and not permanent. Basically you are hanging panels from the wall and the chain link fence. You could rest them in the ground too.
Any reason this would be an impending disaster? One thought I had was it would be a nesting place for billions of crickets between the boards and the wall.
