rootbound crape myrtle?

I'm a beginner at the whole garden thing, so please be patient with me. This spring my husband and I built a raised flowerbed, and of course he got to do all the heavy lifting. Unfortunately, he's even less plant-savvy than I am, and I found out months after the fact that most of the shrubs he planted were root-bound and he didn't cut the root balls. He thought he could just dig a hole, stick them in and be done with it.

Most of what we planted seems to be doing ok, but one crape myrtle in particular doesn't seem to be getting established. Even when the ground around it is wet, the root ball dries out quickly. In Oklahoma's heat, it just wilts. Should I just be patient and keep watering it, hoping that it will grow, or is there something else I can do? I heard a product called Wilt-Pruf recommended on this forum, will that help in this situation?

Any help is GREATLY appreciated!!

Amanda
