Old thread, new results... With respect to a hot coffee spill on nylon carpet, I'm afraid the solutions cited above were minimally effective. Spot Shot - Useless. Did nothing. Oxyclean - At specified concentration no effect. At twice the manufacture's concentration, mildly effective even with numerous applications. Hoover Platinum Collection Professional Strength Instant Stain Remover - Mildly effective even with numerous applications to the spots. Folex Instant Carpet Stain Remover - Useless. Did nothing. Salon Care 40 Volume Clear Developer - 100% effective with two applications. The Salon Care 40 Volume Clear Developer idea was found on a professional carpet cleaner forum where it was stated that letting the fluid dry between applications is recommended. In short it was cited that this is a low cost solution which is always effective on resistant coffee stains. I can attest that the pros know what they are talking about.

We just had wood flooring put in last spring and I chose the coffee stain. I love it so much that it isn't even healthy! I will try to post a picture for you tomorrow. We chose rift and quartersawn white oak, and it is gorgeous. I usually find something to be critical about when I buy/install something in my house, but this time I have no regrets AT ALL. We had the flooring company do the water pop to show the grain more, and it's perfect. And believe me, I never, ever say anything is perfect. :) Victoria

First off, any coating on brick regardless of how well it works is a maintenance issue for life. It might be 3 years, 5 years, 10 years, etc, but the coating will have to be redone/cleaned/touched up to continue to look good. Brick is supposed to be essentially maintenance-free. I believe that your in for a battle. The supplier gave you an inferior product. The installer put it up. Unless they are the same entity, the supplier is only liable to give you new bricks that are correct. The installer will be responsible for ripping out the old and installing new, which he most likely will not want to do. It may be more economical for him to walk away from the job and let you sue him then it is to redo the job. Then you're stuck with an unfinished job. The only way it will get finished in a timely fashion is to hire someone else and you foot the bill to correct the situation. Then you chase whoever you can to get your money back. If you didn't like it while it was going up, you should have stopped the work until it was done right. I don't belive that any contractor is going to willingly dismantle new masonry and rebuild it at his expense because of aesthetics. I want to add that: I don't think you're wrong and I don't think you're being unreasonable, but I believe you're in for a difficult time to get it corrected. I hope I'm wrong and good luck. FWIW, Maybe your best option is to tell them you want some money back and have them coat/paint it the right color at thier expense.

Great news Karen. Just an aside for others. In the begining when water would be absorbed by the granite I would wonder if it was a stain. But in time it simply dried out. With a porous type granite that can happen and does especially around the sink.
