Thank you all for sharing your experiences with Buck roses and enticing me to other varieties. You, evil rose people, you! I am very pleased to hear about PS. As I mentioned, it was an impulse buy and never thought about it or never paid any attention to it. I was so fascinated with the large 4 inch bloom with intoxicatingly sweet fragrance. The bush was in a 2 gallon container and about 1 ft tall. When I go back to the nursery and see the roses, I have a better idea about how they are. My garden contains some Buck roses also - Carefree Beauty, Earth Song, Aunt Honey, and Blue Skies. All the roses are indeed carefree except BS. BS had very strong citrus fragrance and acted like HT, but he decided to not grow.

I made it over to Pt Defiance Rose garden today. Found 2 lovely big Royal Sunsets...and yes, was delighted to see that it is the rose I have admired for years! But Holy Tomatoes! The stems are a good 3" thick on those beauties! I wonder how long they have been growing there? It looks like those of us growing them on a 2 dimensional structure better prune off any canes that want to grow in the other directions! THese had about 5 of the massive trunks on each one and made a big full circle probably 10 feet tall and nearly that wide. I can't wait! I took pics I may be able to post tomorrow. THey are still in my camera now.

Royal Sunset is one of my favorite roses :) The colors are absolutely beautiful, scent is excellent -- citrus to me -- and she's quite healthy. She blooms frequently, but not continually like some of my smaller-flowered climbers can do. She is hearty, but her vigor isn't very fast; she can get quite tall but may take a while to do it. That's a good thing if you don't need a house-eater! I just love her. Her color is more yellow-y in all-day sun here and it stayed totally apricots and oranges in more shade. I don't get pinks on her where I am, and the orange isn't bright, except for her buds (or in the fall!). Love her!

Thank you Jasmine, I would love that. Haku, you'll have to share pictures of yours 1st since I'm sure yours will bloom long before mine. I'm jealous you can get Austins so cheap and close. There's only one place I know of around here to get them and they're over an hour away and not cheap. SoFl Rose, beautiful picture. I hope it does as well for me as it does for you.
