Hmmm...sounds like you need a 12 step program, lol! Step one open package...step two remove plant... At least you plant them. A gardening program coordinator I know once joked about teaching a course on driveway gardening. That is so many of us buy the plants and leave the pots on the driveway or patio! I have some that are several years old on the patio. That is because I have my own 12 step program. In order to plant them I have to one, cut down honeysuckle, two remove branches, three spray stumps, four, beg husband to dig holes, five, band-aid husband when he injures himself (for those of you that don't know, my husband is accident prone and can and has, cut his finger opening a desk drawer), six decide hole is not where I told him, seven, repeat four and five....you get the point. Dax- this is one of my favorite grower - especially unique perennials. I order a few things every spring from them. Sometime try their zinnia grandiflora. First time I saw that plant was in the Tucson Botanical Garden growing in some soil the resembled concrete. Does great here in the Buckeye and self sows nicely. Couple years ago I ordered pinus edulis 'Farmy' and pinus ponderosa 'Mary Ann Hancock' from them and they are doing fine. The conifers tend to be on the small side though. I think someone else is providing them with the grafted plants - not sure who. Marshall

My guess is that the website has not been updated yet. The article was in the Albuquerque paper. He noted that it was a combination of the troubled real estate market, several years of drought, and when we had fires again this year, that also slowed business tremendously. He also noted the competition from places like Home Depot and Lowes. They closed much earlier than normal this fall, even shutting down orders whereas last year, one was able to order Christmas gifts from them. It is definitely sad to lose such a resource.

Ordered from them last spring (2010). I expected small plants, but some of these were a little TOO small. The Fallugia shrub (larger pot) looked fantastic. The two Scrophularia weren't as great once they were unwrapped. The root systems didn't even go halfway into the small pot, the stems were rather weak, and some of the inner foliage was yellow. I will agree that the customer service was wonderful. And they did PROMPTLY send replacement Scrophularia after calling to let them know about the plants (in case they didn't make it later on...was willing to wait to see how they did but the lady was sooo nice and said she would send two more). The new plants were a bit better, though none of them grew much over summer. The Fallugia shrub took off and did great by fall though. I like their policy of sending out replacements. I like the looks of their catalog and how many unusual things they offer. But I think I will look elsewhere first before buying any more from them... CMK
