Is this possible? Water from old pond into the extended new part?

Hi all.

Ive been working hard on my extension of the pond today.

3 feet sure is deep :-D

The deep part is 3 x 3 x 3 feet.

Im going to use the shape from the preform old pond directly with liner as part of the new pond.

The part upto the new extension will be 20" with shelves 16" deep on both sides like around the extension.

Old pond is 132 gallons, new will be probably 300 gallons.

I was thinking of getting the new liner, then line the extension and roll up the rest of the liner.

Then fill the water from the old pond into the deep part and net the four goldies and put them in there too. The old water would probably only fill up the deepest part of the extension. I would of course add my submersible pump and filter to the part that the water is now in.

Then I would take out the empty preform and dig the last part of the weir that seperate the ponds now, so it would be 20" in the middle, and lay the liner on the rest of the new pond.

Does this make sense, and is it possible?

How much water could I then add a day to bring the entire pond to be full, without harming the fish.

And would this save me much in terms of my new pond having to go through a complete cycle again.

Im really hoping this makes sense, its late here in Denmark :-)

Thanks so much if anybody can help me with these questions.

Take care,

Hanne
