identify blue purple flower bulb

Found these flowers blooming in June along the railroad tracks. Was told they were either blue danube or blue bonnet. I searched online, definitely not blue danube but similar to blue bonnet the Texas flower but these have long spikey leaves approx 2 feet long similar to the day lilies. There are clusters of them on one stem. What are these?

Looks to me like a Tradescantia. For me, they seed to the point of becoming a weed, so I'm not surprised you found them along the railroad tracks :) One year I planted some that were given to me-just popped them into an empty spot. Found out the spot I had for them was not big enough, and not "casual" enough. I'm still weeding them from that location, but they are gorgeous!

If you can get a photo, there's a strong chance folk on jb-forums can narrow down a name based on a photo of the bloom, the spread of the plant, with a photo of the underside of the lilypad You won't get much worthwhile information many places as many a message board is trashed by scamsters who try to hide their lack of competence by making false misleading excuses as to why you should not ask

You know, I think it IS a catmint. I happened to see something just like it at the garden centre on the weekend and when I looked it up - Walker's Low - it came up as a catmint. So I guess if not Walker's Low, at least I know more or less what it is. Thanks for your help!

That particular one is one of the Lace Cap Hydrangeas. If you want to grow them they are widely available in many varieties. But be warned. In many parts of the UK the flowers will not be blue like that but a muddy pink. You need acid soil to get that colour.
