HPs against a house in SF Bay Area?

Hi everyone,

I was just doing some reading online about HPs... and I stumbled on a description (from a European publication) about HPs that said that they don't like to be grown up against walls/houses because of poor air circulation. But "up against the house"... in the space between the foundation and the lawn... and that is the place where I have planned most of my roses, including my HPs.

That said, I also know that Bay Area climates are completely different from other regions in the rose-growing world and our climate seems to defy most of the things written about antique roses.

I have Reine des Violettes, La Reine, Ulrich Brunner Fils, and Grandmother's Hat.

I just wanted to ask... of these, is one or another better suited to being against a wall? Will any or all of these be OK there?

I picked each of these varieties based on everything I could read about their growing habits and what other people in the Bay Area grow successfully.

Thanks!
