Am I crazy that I am already planning for the fall Swaps to start
Comments (7)Lowe's may have seeds year round from what I've been told. They won't be clearance racking any of those this year. We've got orders to keep the shelves stocked and neatly organized. I think it has something to do with the economy. I've already started collecting my own seeds. I'm not saving them yet, but spreading them where I want more of something next year. I'll start collecting once the breadseed poppies are ripe....See MoreThe Pot Ghetto from The Land Called Honalee.))))pic heavy...
Comments (27)Postal code in Canada but I get the jist! Lol, Cindy! I will feel much better when all those babies are in the ground and tucked in for winter. I'll start worrying about them in about April. Maryl ~ God I hope you don't get as crazy as me! I can do it temporarily here cause I have the room and am waiting for beds! If, on the other hand, I have inspired you to be true to yourself and follow your heart, then by all means enjoy! I'll post pics and names as I plant them starting tomorrow. I have quite a few larger roots to put directly in the ground and we are expecting a nice, warm day! The dogs like to help by licking the sweat off my brow and lying around making sure I am doing it right! Shelties are such workaholics! :)...See MoreI am crazy, I am going to demo in a blizzard
Comments (23)Hey Amberley, Scrappy, & Bmorepanic (& anyone else in this MD/VA/DC)...we have around 30" here in Western Howard County. Drifts are quite a bit higher...the one we measured was 36" high! My DH just started slowly snow blowing our driveway. We have a fairly long drive, so it's going to take awhile...he figures it will take him at least 2 days to do it all! Our dogs refuse to budge from the porch...we have to push them off to "do their duty" on the snow rather than the porch! My DD tried throwing Ruby (the female) into one of the drifts...but she stayed on top and daintily walked down & off the drift! Heavy snow! But, we have a fire going and I just made hot chocolate for the kids (they just came in from playing out there-13 & 15 years old and still playing in the snow, I love it!), so we're doing great! I also made a big pot of chili for tomorrow and now I'm making pineapple casserole (me) + Roman Holiday (DH & kids) for tonight's dinner! Amberley, it sounds like you're making good progress b/w the demoing and the snow shoveling!...See MoreMy "pot ghetto", I mean "garden" is growing!
Comments (12)Your Sheilas perfume looks lovely Sara-Ann :) hehe I cant hope to compete with Beth ( btw, you look like you have a very well organised mess there- and I bet it looks beautiful when things start to flower). My rose pot collection grew up to about 80 last year, and it was just too much to handle, what with the daily waterings during summer. After winnowing out the diseased experiments, non performers and foisting colours that didnt work on friends and family, (even mum, who loves a bargain is telling me no more big roses, tho I managed to get her to take a couple of minis last week) I've managed to get it down to about 60. I buy most as grafted bareroot and start them off in plastic 14 Inch pots..depending on how big they get, they get bumped up to about 23 in (60 cm). That tends to be for the big hybrid teas tho. I'm not game to try climbers, as the reason I stick to pots is because I'm in a rental property, so can't do too much in the way of fixing structures solid enough for them to climb on. The only thing I have done in that respect is my wall container garden, but I have been considering swapping out the wall pots for a couple of roses... But there are so many more I want to try growing, and bareroot season is only 1-2 months away here... below is a small section of the ghetto...(most of the roses are about 5 foot opposite, so it kind of forms an avenue to the back of the garden. Those trellises are calling me now.....See Morebarbarag_happy
