nuts or fruit on unknown tree

This tree grows on the edge of a wildish part of my yard and sometimes has nuts or fruit. It is all brambles and poison ivy below so I can never find any that fall to figure out what exactly. I was wondering what it is. The tree itself is between 30 and 40 feet high. I think there is one more tree a little furthur out in the brambles. The larger branches have a very attractive way of almost weeping in their growth. It has some winter moth damage but not as much as my oaks. The leaves remind me a of chestnut but the tree is fine - unlike the poor residual chestnuts that keep trying to re-grow around the area via suckers from the original diseased trees that were cut down.
