I have Tacca chantrieri, the black bat, in young seedlings. I found them actually pretty hard to get started from seed. It seems most all of the vendors that sell the seed are not selling it fresh enough and and I got zero germination from multiple seed sources, until I finally found someone that harvested the seed & sent them directly to me still in the pod. Even then they took several months to germinate. I might be interested in the lemon, bannana, ginger, or something similar to those. I'm interested in your Trapa Bicornis seeds. I don't know if you have a pond or not but I have Queen of Siam and Panama Pacific tropical water lily vips and Albert Greenberg tropical lily tuber. I also have bladderworts, Utricularia radiata, a carnivorous floating plant with really cool blooms. I also have a red tropical lily night bloomer. A humidifier? I just bought one of these and am also in Ohio and can't find information yet on how to care for them. Some say mist them, others say that is the worst thing to do. My humidity is around 50% inside and I'm wishing it was higher. I have one of those zip-up "4 tier greenhouse" things that I may try. The plant in a tray with pebbles in it and water in the tray inside the zipped enclosure. The "greenhouse" is in an east window-does anybody know if this is ok? Most sources say not to be in direct light, but I don't see east windows as being that direct. Any thoughts folks? I really would like to know what soil to repot it in since I can't get specific answers from that pages that I've checked.

Hi guys - Thank you so much for the tray suggestion, I guess that's probably my best bet, they are soo small and black and the peat moss is kind of dark so I don't have a hope of finding them, I don't think. I got the seeds from a quite reputable South African seed distributor (I live in SA, so it took quite quick to get to me and they had packaged it quite well, wrapped in a special kind of paper to maintain freshness and then in a plastic baggie with all the seed details on it.) So I guess if I have any hope of seeing my batty plant I need to sow in a shallow tray. I hope they grooow :( Any other useful info you might have on growing using this method w/regard to Bat Plants specifically, i would really appreciate it.
