There's probably a list somewhere on the internet if you do a search for edible flowers, but a couple of others that pop into my mind are borage and marigold. Borage really does taste like cucumber, but marigold probably isn't for everyone. It has a slightly pine-y taste. Also I've been known to drop a couple of violets and dandelions into a spring salad. Yes those are seed pods. There must have been insects near by and other Brug varieties to fertilize your plant when it was flowering, neat and good purchasing sandiegosun!! From fertilization to maturity, you are looking at 4 months or more for them to ripen. There will be upwards of 80-100 seeds per seed pod, each and every seed will have it's own DNA and chromosomes and no 2 seeds will be identical.

Most likely the pod you thought you had probably wasn't fertile. Many varieties produce false pods such as my Yukako. Or the pod might have gotten thrips, or your culture may have altered - such as a big change in your humidity. Or the stem might have gotten damaged, or bacteria or fungus infected it. Many possibilities. I give them no special care other than when I remove spent flowers around them, I leave that stem and try to be careful not to damage it. The backs of the sepals I mark with a dot of colored acrylic paint so to not forget which flowers I pollinated. 6 months can be a long time so I usually try to do several pods at a time of the same cross so if I loose one or two I might still have one that makes it.
