Using a rose as a support for another?

Okay, here's my situation. I have an arbor with a climbing Cecile Brunner on either side. These were planted about 4 years ago, before I new what an OGR was, let alone a once bloomer. The spring flush is glorious, but it's only on top of the arbor, after that I'm left with greenery on top, and nekkid legs on the sides of the arbor.

Now, I've got 2 climbers (MAC and and climbing Clotilde Soupert) on order that I'd like to plant on the arbor....without moving the Ceciles..they are monsters.

Would it feasible to plant the each rose 2 to 3 feet out from the base of each Cecile, then train the canes of the new rose up the nekkid vertical canes of Cecile? Or would that make pruning a nightmare?

Or should I just suck it up and cut them back, lose the Spring flush, and move them now?

Sorry, I'm thinking out loud, just trying to get some other opinions.

Thanks,

Eric
