I've only grown 'Souv. de Pierre Notting' in the greenhouse, not the garden. But there, I am impressed with the flowers, so have grafted several to 'Fortuniana' roots, and will be trying it in the garden soon.

I had this Tea..one of the few that died. It was very tiny, but it had the most beautiful porcelin looking apricot flower. It was high scrolled like a hybrid tea. I will definitely add this rose to my garden again. I lost it in that fateful "Easter Freeze."

Same here--my only one died two years ago in the prolonged April freeze at Easter.

SdPN is not bold yellow in my garden, more of a soft yellow with apricot/pink shading on occasion. This Tea is only a couple of years old yet, but it is looking to be a healthy well shaped plant. It blooms all the time, even at its young age. I highly recommend it.

Hi all! Sorry I don't post much anymore. I still garden and love it, but there is less time, and my job keeps me very busy.

Souvenir de Pierre Notting is the best rose I grow. It is perfect. If I were on a "ratings team", I give it a 10. It is (here in Orange County) that good.

It is not a very commonly grown rose. Not many people have it and there are not many places that sell it either.

I have it on order for this spring and can't wait. I love yellow roses so this one is right up my alley.

Sunni is right. It's isn't a commonly grown rose and I think that's probably because it is a little hard to find. I love mine. The nice thing is that it really isn't a "monster" Tea. The blooms are beautiful and the bush stays around 5-6 feet here. The only complaint I have is that the thrips love it almost as much as I do. :-)I like it so much that I ordered a second one last year and it is currently in the pot village. As soon as it gets big enough to compete with the other roses, I will have two planted in my garden and there aren't many roses I have duplicates of.

Oh, what wonderful praise for this rose! And so interesting that no one thinks he's a "bold yellow". I based that statement on the photos posted on HMF. Some of them really are BOLD. But no matter. I'm definitely going to get him.

Malcolm, it's great that you're propagating this rose. Apparently, there's a severe shortage! Hopefully, the nurseries will get to work on SdPN.

Everyone raves about Marechal Niel and Maman Cochet, so how could their offspring not be great? (That's not a serious question. I'm sure many, many, many don't work out.)

Vintage has SdPN available. Also, I believe RU usually has this rose. I would expect that Ashdown might also have it, but I am not sure.

Does SdPN fade in the summer heat and sun? How much color does he keep?

Sherry, my band arrived from Ashdown this last summer. I am very pleased with it's vigor and health. I await the first blooms.

Sherry, mine is a soft yellow in the heat and in cooler temperatures it will have some tints of apricot and a slightly deeper yellow color but it is never a bright or dark yellow color in my garden.

SdPN does fade somewhat, but it seems to hold its color a bit better than other yellow Teas. So, it does not fade to white, but does become a paler yellow. It sometimes fades to a more apricot color depending on the temps.

Well, Carol and Joanne, so far I'm seeing no negatives about SdPN. I've emailed RU to see if they have him. I checked every other rose seller in my bookmarks and found no one else who has him.

I rooted a cutting from Jerome's plant--it's a blooming machine indeed. It started blooming when it reached 12" tall and hasn't quit since.

Love it, but as Carol says, many blooms do get damaged.

I think SdPN has one of the all-time loveliest blooms.
I wanted to grow it in the same area as Rosette Delizy and Mons. Tillier (Archduke Joseph).
But it won't live here.
I've tried three times, and it stubbornly refuses to grow for me.
Now, I'd not paid attention, but now I know it is a child of Marechal Niel, I understand why it won't grow here.
It doesn't like my climate or my conditions.
None of those heat-seeking yaller Tea-Noisettes do, and apparently the curse is carried to the second generation.

But, Sherry, YOU have heat.
It should LOVE your garden!
