My friend and I will be helping out with Carter & Holmes display and booth.

I'm flying in on Tuesday then staying for the whole event and heading back to New York on Monday. I've offered my service to a couple of the paph. vendors but it seems if anything it will be to just to fill in when they take a meal. I'm easy to spot. Male, long red hair in a pony tail, moustache, glasses and heavily tattooed. Stop me if you see me. I plan on doing most of my shopping at the party on Tuesday night and on Monday. I also have a friend in Taiwain who is seeding me plants threw one of the vendors that will be there. It will be my Christmas all week long.

Sounds like a very 'Merry Christmas' Bob! I'll be there with a few friends, probably just for Saturday. Being somewhat new to growing orchids, I'm very excited about this fabulous event.

Sheila, you any everybody else should be excited about this event. Being 55 it may be the only time I'll be able to attend one here in the states. After all this is not a yearly event by any means. I plan on attending some of the paph. talks on Saturday. I love all orchids but paphs. are my passion. Next is vandas and then from there what ever strikes me. Just love them all.

I assume this will be a very crowded event. How about the week before we go, we decide on a time and place to meet? Like maybe saturday at Carter and Holmes booth, at a time TBD before we go? We could each make a little sign to carry or wear that says GW Orchid Forum.

I have very good news for you! The WOC in the USA? 1966, 1984, 2008.

Let's be optimistic! Let's ass-u-me that the AOS new attitude continues for a couple of decades. We can hope for a return event in the USA before we hit 80 y/o--and, I'm older than you.......

If not the USA, we can go to Canada.... or, mebbe even Cuba! Fidel will be "retired" soon.

Hey Bob, you're young! Even if the US has a repeat in 18-20 years, I don't think I'd be up to traveling. Hopefully I'll still be around to enjoy my own plants.....

Hollyt, I was wondering about the possibility of finding any one person. I hope we'll be given maps. There are certain vendors I'll want to see and hope it will not be too difficult to find them.

I'm hoping there'll be food vendors as well and reasonably comfy places to sit and rest a bit thru the day. Anyone know whether our door fee will let us come & go? Then it could be back to the hotel/restaurant for rest/nourishment!

If some of us want to meet up probable it would be easier on any day other then Sat. That is the day it is most crowded. We can talk more about it later.

I'm going to the WOC but just to pickup a friend. The Tamiami show is being held at the same time, that's where I'm going.

Tuezday, that one is also in Miami isn't it? I know there is another one in Miami at the same time and just down the street. One of my favorit Paph. vendors (Springwater Orchids) will be selling there. I'm sure I'll hit that one also. Not that I'll need any more plants.

Bob, do you have any other information about this third orchid show? I have not heard of it, nor are the WOC and Tamiami shows 'just down the street' from each other either.

I don't see Springwater Orchids listed for these two shows nor any mention that Thanh will have a booth there. Are you sure you are not confusing it with Water Orchids, a company from Taiwan, which will be at both shows?

I hope you have a wonderful time and bring home lots of orchids!!!

I'll be looking for Springwater Orchids. Glad you mentioned them. I'm not going to be doing much buying, but I would love to find a Paph malipoense.

Sometimes, you just have to ask. Springwater Orchids will be at the Tamiami show. Here's what Thanh wrote to me:

Hi Carol,
I will have a booth Martin Motes show (Tamiami, FL), which is about 6-8 miles from WOC. This is my first time there so I am a litle nervous. Small one man operation like me there is no chance to get a booth at WOC, nor can put up an extravaganza display! I have a full time job and sell orchids as 2nd job, to be away from the technical stuffs.
Enough said, hope you will tell others to stop by to see me (and buy some too... please! :-)) ! I will bring different stuffs to the show from species, cymbidiums, bareroots Dens, bulbos.... and blooming phals, catts like everybody else!

Thx Carol. We are going to Tamiami and I will definitely look for Springwater. Where is Thanh located? Any possibility of heat tolerant cyms (also on my shopping list)?

After googling, I found that I've been purchasing from Thanh (duh!!!) thru eBay . Since he's located in Fla, perhaps he has the heat tolerant cyms.

It pops into my head that Thanh is (or at least was) up around the Melbourne when I used to buy nodosa hybrids from his mailing list. That was long before Ebay and the paphs.

If I was going down to Miami for the shows, I would definitely stop by his booth at Tamiami.
