Miami Art Week Kicks Off December in Style
Celebrate all things art as Art Miami, Art Basel Miami and other fairs take over Miami Beach
If you’re an art fan, there are few better places to be in early December than south Florida. Miami Art Week (December 1 to 6, 2015) descends on the beachfront city to feature several of the world’s premier art fairs, including Art Miami and Art Basel Miami. Hundreds of international exhibiting galleries and more than 20 pop-up festivals will showcase some of the best of what modern art has to offer and thrust young emerging talent into the international limelight. Here’s a look at a few of the main events and some images from this year’s exhibiting artists.

Context Art Miami
Considered the sister fair to Art Miami, Context Art Miami focuses on up-and-coming artists from around the world. This year, 95 international galleries will exhibit highlights from their gallery programs, solo artist exhibitions and curated projects. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly to the artists, giving enthusiasts the chance to learn about the ever-evolving arts industry and providing the emerging artists with a chance to establish their careers.

Aqua Art
Aqua Art Miami, another sister fair of the well-established Art Miami, also showcases the work of emerging international artists. Exhibits will include innovative interdisciplinary programming, multimedia installations and interactive, hands-on exhibits.

Art Basel Miami
The second anchor fair of Miami Art Week, Art Basel Miami showcases works from more than 250 galleries and 31 countries inside the Miami Beach Convention Center. The 500,000-square-foot space will have seven sections dedicated to different aspects of contemporary art. Attendees can see a wide variety of paintings, sculptures, public installations, photography, film, video and digital art by both young and established artists.

Design Miami
Labeled a sister fair to Art Basel Miami, Design Miami is a global marketplace for home design. Here, top international galleries present museum-quality exhibitions showcasing 20th- and 21st-century furniture, lighting and home decor. At the fair, attendees will be able to connect with design institutions, sit in on panels and lectures from the world’s top designers and architects, and, of course, view and buy home design items. Design Miami combines commercial and educational opportunities with a museum-like experience for industry professionals and homeowners alike.
