Moving A Rose During The Growing Season
Comments (23)Excellent video. I appreciated the stress on watering, watering, and watering. Two shovels is so much neater than my bear hug method! After watching the video I realized it's a miracle my transplanted roses have survived. Because they were frying in the sun, I recently decided to press ahead with the transplant of three full-size rose bushes. The temperature was hovering around 99F. Not the smartest move, but the roses pulled through with minimal damage. They are better off in their new locations....See Morez9b majesty palm. Year in review
Comments (18)Hey Topher, nothing much. Just doing some maintenance around the yard. It's been a long summer and the yard went neglected for a big portion of the summer because i was out of the country. We havn't cooled down enough yet to bring the growing season to a halt, still hovering in the high 70s and 80s. Here are some pics from my yard: a newly planted corner with various tropicals and succulents - aloe arborescens, aloe barbadiensis, aloe "blue elf", aloe marlothii, aloe saponaria, aloe ciliaris, aloe striata, beaucarnea recurvata, crassulas, agave scabra x reginae, agave desmettiana variegata, agave angustafolia, dypsis decaryi, monstera deliciosa, pachypodium lamereii, cordyline australis, cycas revoluta, phoenix roebelenii, strelitzia nicolai, antigonon leptopus...and more to come! Jubaea Chilensis - fronds are beginning to split. I planted this seedling last December with only 1 strap leaf. Pomegrantes - first substantial crop from my seedling grown tree Tecoma Stans getting ready to bloom Oleander Erthrina Crista-Galli Bougainvillea x Buttiana Corner with Cyathea Cooperi, Howea Forsteriana, Tibouchina Urvilleana, Blechnum Gibbum, Clivia Miniata, Spathiphyllum... Tibouchina Urvilleana Mixed Succulents Passiflora Edulis fruit and flowers Rescued cycas flushing Bougainvillea Barbara Karst Agave Desmettiana Variegata Meyer Lemon blooms Murcott Mandarins - last season this tree gave us over 100 mandarins, this year only 5 Mexican Sweet Limes getting some color - looking like Christmas ornaments...See MoreWhat are you TX Z9ers planting now?
Comments (3)Thanks for the encouragement, JT. It's chilly tonight, but I was in shorts and flip flops Sunday when I deadheaded/pruned things and planted the mums and rose cuttings and collected the canna seeds. I'm sure I'll be out this weekend planting other things just to see if they'd grow.... If not I'll be planting in March. I love Texas - for one reason we can plant, grow and bloom almost all year. Comments (21)Beautiful Ms BossyV. I think I grew the black Jewel one in Hawaii and my samoan neighbors stole them the night they had their luau. They stole and ate my neighbors dog too. My neighbor wasn't too upset. I was about the plants. The neighbors did invite both of us haoles over.We called them Pake (Chinese) Taro. I didn't think it was edible. I guess I was wrong or they used it to wrap the dog....See Morezeffyrose
