There appear to be a number of recommendations of the lions rose (on this website), although according to Kordes the fragrance is slight. A Palatine recommendation, I believe?

My understanding is that Kordes no longer sprays (fungicides only?).

Kosmos & Cinderella look quite interesting - Palatine appears to have both. Roses Unlimited has Cinderella.

I read about them at Palatine site, it all looks good. And Kordes no longer sprays fungicides, great way to test roses. I was just curuious if anybody in OUR area have experience with these roses. ARD testing conditions and our conditions are quite different. And unfortunately our BS problems are much more serious.
I have several friends in Germany, many roses they can grow no spray are not so healthy here, in fact they completely defoliate.

Olga, I'm not in your area, but I have high incidence of BS and PM here in my area. I don't spray. I got CARAMELLA FAIRYTALE two seasons ago from Hortico (thinking it was the older CARAMELLA) and it has done quite well. No BS for me on it so far. Same with the newer CINDERELLA FAIRYTALE. I just got it last yr from Palatine.

I had good luck with Golden Fairy Tale, but I spray. I have to. It is a disaster if I don't. This rose bloomed all summer and had little, if any, disease problems. The flower size in summer was smaller due to the heat, but that is to be expected.

So far, in our coastal "rainforest" garden where BS flourishes, we've been lucky with Lions Fairytale
(Champagne Moment) and the hybrid tea Grande Amore. We do spray occasionally and hope for the best. So far we have found the ADR roses to be all they are cracked up to be. But then it may also just be that they are fairly new on the market.

I agree that bs pressure is different in Europe than it is here - as hot as we experiennced in Europe it wasn't ever so humid as it is here.
My zone is not the same but maybe my experience still can assist you.

Olga, I have Caramel Fairy tale, Cinderella Fairy tale and Caramel Fairy tale. All three were absolutely clean till the spider mites did a number on them. Late fall Caramel Fairy tale had some weird spots, looked anthracnose rather than blackspot. Maybe it was cercospora. I can, (I hope or think), differentiate between blackspot and anthracnose but diagnosing cercospora is hit and miss with me (it usually works in my case as process of elimination rather than positive ID). Cinderella also got some spots in winter but again, I do not think that was blackspot.
To my present surprise, both Floral fairy tale and Caramel Fairy tale are fragrant.

Let me add, that we sprayed once before we left overseas - but these shrubs were NOT sprayed and due to illness, surgery and so forth I could not spray till mid-August. That time these shrubs were sprayed not because of spots but because of the spider mite infestation and to kill two birds with one stone, we mixed Avid with tebuconazole, so that time all roses were sprayed including those that I never sprayed before or after.

My favorites are Floral Fairy tale and Caramel Fairy tale. They do grow taller and wider than I expected but I trust your pruning skills, LOL.

I found only one picture of caramel Fairy tale that shows foliage (looks the plant had either iron deficiency or some other nutrient deficiency - no wonder since I could not water, we had no rain and I missed fertilizing)

Beth - I have Kordes Cinderella fairytale too. My Cinderella Fairytale leaves look VERY dark green, glossy, round-shaped. Could yours be the hybrid tea verison of Cinderella and not the floribunda one? I know that Kordes also produce the hybrid tea version. The floribunda one has approx. 4-10 flowering clusters.

Olga - I bought 2 cinderella fairytale roses. And I'm thinking of adding more Kordes roses next year because they seem very healthy - free from blackspots. All my Austins are suffering from either mildew or blackspots, wheras Cinderella fairytale looks immaculately clean. I really love the glossy, rounded leaves. At the start the flowers to me look like, "just another pink rose" - but later in the summer, the flowers look very pretty, tiny, and quartered.

I can barely detect any scent in the summer. Early in spring, there was this mild-medium apple fragrance. One stem has up to 5-10 flowering clusters that can fill up the entire vase. The flowers unfortunately doesn't last more than 2 days once opened.

Cinderella is a climber -so if you're not after a compact climber then I suggest you should try Lions rose which I'm planning to get.

Mary, you pictures, as usual, are so enabling. You know I am not into modern roses anymore, partially because they are so disease ridden in my climate. I also love the look of OGR, the non glossy leaves, health of once bloomers, fragrance, bush shape ets. However, if these roses can be grown no spray,stay healthy and be fragrant, I will be more then happy to give them a try.

Hi Olga - Yes, I live in Western Canada along coastal British Columbia. We experience similar weather to "Seattle" although usually a little more severe in nature as we are further north. Because our property sits on the side of a mountain, we experience more rain, wind etc. than most other areas of the coastal region. In a good year, except for a few of the early yellow's my modern roses will come into bloom in June and I'll be putting them to bed by the end of October making a short season of bloom. B.C. is known for its rain, rain, and more rain.

Jumbojimmy, you are absolutely right! Mine is the CINDERELLA "FREELANDER." Geez what a dope! I get them mixed up all the time! That whole ADR series confuses me sometimes! It's crazy how they re-use the names over and over. Oh well, it's still a good disease resistant rose! Just hybrid-tea instead of floribunda!!

Speaking of Kordes roses, your thoughts on "Rosenresli"?

It appears to have their highest rating for blackspot resistance & fragrance, with a high degree of mildew resistance. Higher ranking for blackspot resistance than "Westerland".

Wasterland is not much in terms of resistance in my garden :)

Olga, the foliage is shiny, true, but the blooms are old fashioned not HT types. Not a fairy tale but a short climber is Laguna that also has OGR type blooms and fantastic fragrance; again, its foliage is also shiny. But New Dawn too has shiny foliage.

I wish I could find place for the new Kordes Aloha but so far I could not decide which of my present climbers should get rid of to replace it with Aloha.
