Thanks to all who sent birthday wishes after I posted last night! Celeste: My evening was quiet, but nice, spent with my boys. They were very sweet, and I must say, I was spoiled. 'Uneventful', maybe, but I'm done with the partying anyway:) And oh, I am in awe of your beautiful rose gardens and can't wait for your photos this summer! Niecey, Thanks for that beautiful birthday rose - what is it? Mendocino rose - Such a spectacular view - your rose gardens must be an amazing sight. Thank you! Sandy - It's getting harder and harder to blow out all those candles! Carol - believe me, all week, every time someone complained about the weather, I reminded them of you poor souls out west who were struggling to deal with bitter cold and wind chills, the likes of which we have not seen here in these parts in recent memory. Wow, I did it again, posted as I thought, but nothing here. Labrea, thank you! A perfect picture of a perfect rose. Could you please tell me what it is, Ta! Medocino - How beautiful, thank you - such a full mauve coloured rose. The closest I can get to would be Yves Piaget - but can not be sure? ..........and Beth, finally! Thank you so very much for your beautiful roses including Mavrik here. I see so many of yours in HMF too. It is wonderful that you are sharing so much of your vast collection. I certainly appreciate it and I am sure you have been so helpful to many rose collectors in their searches. You share a birthday with some of my favorite friends and relatives: My husband's twin sister, my former secret pal in Sunday School, my minister, a great friend and former neighbor, twin girls who were friends of my sons and are now attorneys, their father (who shared their birthday), and of course, my own dear husband. I know you must be a great person, Judith, as everyone I know who has this birthday has been a wonderful person and I know quite a few personally.

Thank you, Niecey for the birthday greetings and the gorgeous rose. I've ordered a few for this spring along the same colour line. Never thought I would like orangey tones, but I do!

I had a wonderful birthday, slowly recovering here with my coffee:) Part II will be breakfast out with my boys, even though I am still stuffed from last night! Ha - so much for New Year's resolutions...

Thanks for the birthday wishes Carol. It really is a cold time of year for a birthday. Apparently, so the story goes, I was born in the middle of a terrible Montreal blizzard:) My Mom used to love to tell the tale of how the taxi got stuck trying to get up the hill to the hospital and how she almost didn't make it....As the years went by, the story picked up steam and the blizzard got worse and worse LOL
Ha - and don't worry about the goodies - I've eaten plenty!
