Leslie, I have never really seen a garden of mini roses before as I am sure that is what you have, along with the standard type. Would love to see a picture of your garden next summer (spring) as I am sure it will be maturing beautifully by then.

HEH, GUYS, I had a blast of a day anyway. A close friend had sent out an invitation saying that due to circumstances that they could not hve their usual pre-Christmas Party but still wanted to have a get-to-gether with friends on Jan 4th. I was a little suspicious, but when in their company recently, something came up about my birthday, it being a milestone one and all. She APPEARED mortified that she had picked that day for their Christmas party and kept apoligising that she had forgotten about my birthday...........I joked and said, you mean you are not having a surprised party for me - she said No, I am so sorry. We will go out for dinner on another day.

Though, I am a party animal, I really did not want to go on this day. My poor husband has had a helluva time with me as I have been trying to get out of it but reluctantly agreed to go, and after all my pampering and doing not much else that day, I was prepared to have a good time.

.........Then, Surprise, surprise! By gosh was I surprised to see some very unexpected friends and family there. It was emotional but a great evening and I received some beautiful gifts.........and yes, there were 65 lighted candles on the cake and I blew em all out in one sweep!

Oops, so sorry I almost missed acknowledging your beautiful hydrangea pictue. But I was thrilled with it. After roses, hydrangeas are second in our garden and have a great shade spot for my collection. I have several and different varieties. I am trying to grow all colours, liming to produce pink and using coffee grinds so far to turn blue...and of course nothing to do for the white ones. We were in Vancouver on 1st and 2nd January also.:)

That's great your friends threw you a surprise party and got away with it. I'm glad you had such a wonderful celebration for such a milestone birthday too:) I'll bet your husband was pretty pleased with himself, that can't have been easy to get you to that party, LOL*

Someday I will show you my garden, I just picked up another 8 minis from Sequoia Nursery that's closing soon. Yes, you could say loosely, I have about 9 minis to 1 standard. A few of those minis are waist high though:)

It is wonderful that you are sharing so much of your vast collection. I certainly appreciate it and I am sure you have been so helpful to many rose collectors in their searches. I am having a bit of a dabble with posting pictures on HMF myself and am really enjoying it. Have a wonderful rosy 2008.
