Seed starting indoors vs greenhouse

I am interested in any advice regarding seed starting in a greenhouse vs indoors. I know this may sound crazy but I really would like to explore the options without total plant loss. I have a 10x12 greenhouse with the ability to keep it at 50 degrees here in central PA. I have started my seeds indoors the past couple of years, they have done OK but I think even with grow lights on for 12 hrs/day that it can't replace sunlight. They start out great but each year they tend to get leggy and don't really look good until I move them to the greenhouse to harden them off. I grow mainly petunias, impatiens, tomatos and peppers. We usually like to plant by Mothers Day so the seeds really don't need to be started until March, even though I'd love to start them now just to get thru the winter dullness.
