In our area, this rose just has everything going for it, it's healthy, disease free, blooms almost non-stop all summer, the bush shape is nice, etc. etc. Belinda's Dream and Climbing Pinkie are perfect in the Dallas-Ft Worth area!

I love this rose! Although the scent is usually not very strong at all, it has everything else - constant blooms, even in part shade, that last forever, disease resistance, and great bush shape! Definitely a wonderful rose and mine does not get a lot of heat - it is in the shade of a Rose of Sharon in moist clay soil.

I WANT to love this rose. When it's good, it is SO good. But the blooms ball when it's too wet out, and as I live 10 minutes from the bay, it's wet out a LOT. That's the danger of having so many petals here. Mine also doesn't have a lot of fragrance, which, to me, is a pretty big thing. I have no plan to remove B.D. though. There's almost no disease, and that certainly is worth a lot. Plus, I do really like the color.

I just planted mine. When I brought her home, she had 3 or 4 huge, very fragrant blooms. I made it my business to find a spot for her. Though I mostly grow OGRs, lately I've taken the perspective that whatever rose will thrive in my garden, I will grow that rose. I'm hoping her many petals will not be a problem in this humid climate. I kind of don't think they will because I have not heard balling mentioned about her. I do love fat flowers, and she is truly stunning. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

For me BD is also quite fragrant, and has really large and sumptuous blooms on a full and shapely bush. My climate is dry and warm which this rose seems to like. I have two bushes, but have to say that one that is planted very close to a stony, heat-reflecting hill has not fared well. I don't imagine any rose would do well in that situation, and the other bush in full sun in the open did quite well in the rather extreme heat of last summer.

Mine just went into the garden two weeks ago. Own root. Anyone have observations on own root vs. grafted?

I have two own root, and the bush is much smaller than the ones on Fortuniana. The smaller ones bloom just as much as the grafted, huge blooms that smell wonderful, and it's still a shapely rounded bush. The only time I have trouble with her is when we have several days of totally overcast, wet, cool weather, the blooms get botrytis and don't open. But when the sun comes back out, she shrugs it off and immediately goes into another flush.

The only other issue with this rose, and it wasn't specific to Belinda, most of my roses got it and many died, was a mysterious fungal cane die-back.

In my climate, that situation is typical and sometimes can go on for weeks in the middle of summer. I suspected as much. You know, my Gallicas never seem to mind that kind of weather- They just bloom later and the cycle lasts longer.

I run both hot and cold on Belinda's Dream. Nice trouble free rose, but I haven't gone ga-ga over it. My experience with it is detailed on the link below:

Mine is own-root, and is about 6-7' tall and not quite that wide. When it first blooms in the spring, it's really loaded, and keeps a lot of blooms most of the year. Mine is pretty fragrant. They make good cut flowers. I really like it. No big problems, but there is a little black spot and some balling, like brittie says.

This is one that really doesn't need to be grafted, unless you have a special need to, like if you live in Florida.
