September Morn or Belinda's Dream near Alchymist?
Comments (5)hi rosyjennifer - Alchymist is very vigorous! Your's on the fence sounds wonderful. My new pink will be near it, but not too close, it won't get bothered by Alchymist. I remember reading somewhere that September Morn doesn't do well on it's own roots, it does better grafted. Maybe it needs better than average culture to perform well on it's own roots. Just by looking at them side by side in their pots Belinda's Dream is a monster compared to spindly September Morn. I have to learn how to graft! I have a Manetti plant I started from a cemetery last year for just this purpose. There a few you can only buy own-root that i want that grow much better grafted....See MoreI love my Belinda's Dream Roses!
Comments (45)Belinda's Dream did not do well for me in my zone 5/6, W. PA garden. I went full steam ahead responding to all its good press, and planted 4, one gallon size, four years ago. Four years later, a more than fair trial period, and nothing. BD died to the ground every winter, got to 14" by seasons end with very weak, puny growth. However, it made every effort to bloom but balled badly and its thin stems could not support the flowers. It also black spotted which surprised me in light of its Earthkind designation. I believe BD is a warm climate rose. It apparently does very well from zone 7 and higher....See MoreParadise, Belinda's Dream

Comments (4)Thanks Ingrid for sharing your thoughts! I can see a lot of new growth just the flowers look different than they did. I will wait and give it time to adjust to the new area. Maybe as it grows bigger and the flowers are up higher they will look more like they did before. Patience—this is the biggest lesson I am learning from gardening!...See Morejim1961 / Central Pennsylvania / Zone 6
