How much damage can a cane take...
Comments (4)That's what I like to hear len! My DH says it reminds him of the Maine coast. Well it would with that rugosa influence! How does it fare with BS? I know it is more prone than most other rugosa hybrids. If it just gets bare knees I can deal, I use tall phlox and other plants to hide them. As to choking on the scent, that is one sweet way to go! Anne, I know a lot about canker now (unfortunately) after last year's Easter freeze! Buff Beauty and Sally Holmes had to be cut to the ground and Maggie lost about 75% of her growth. Reve d'Or and Cl. Devoniensis were killed (not surprised however, I was zone pushing) and most other roses lost various amounts of growth. Between the freeze and the drought I'd like to forget about last season altogether. On a brighter note this year is shaping up to be a stellar bloom year, I can't believe the buds I'm seeing on everything so far....See MorePruning after aphid damage - Cane Rose
Comments (1)Aphids don't eat the leaves. It was most likely rose slugs-- small pale green worms on the underside of the leaves. There are many threads about them on the Forum each spring. If your rose is an upright bush and good-sized, you could cut it back some to force the new growth to come lower down, rather than at the (current) top of the plant over bare legs. If it is arching or trained semi-horizontally, then it will fill in without your intervention....See MoreQuestion About Freeze Damaged Daylilies
Comments (4)I HOPE we have had our last freeze, being 2 hours from Houston! I trimmed one in a pot to see what it looked like - looks way better than the collapsed sodden mess on the rest. I think I would like to find time to trim the rest and watch the new growth come up rather than looking at the sad freeze damaged foliage. If I can make time while we repair plumbing in the horse barn and I totally clean out the fridge/freezers in the house and garage, and pick up the broken limbs........My roses look battered too but will have to wait until new growth shows before pruning them. Hope everyone didnt have too much damage and is enjoying the sunshine! Judith...See MoreQuestion about possible damage to home
Comments (6)Oh my! What a shame.! Well...actually...you can work a similar reconstruction/repair miracle with the laminate. It takes careful application but it can be done so the entire floor doesn't need to be removed. But you do need a skilled flooring person.. It's not a talent that most floor jockies would possess. I've patched a burn mark in a laminate floor but it took time and patience. You might consider calling your home owner insurance agent and talking to them about recommending someone. I assure you that if they were correcting the problem...I doubt they'd go to the expense and disruption of removing the entire floor. Personally...I'm very sorry you're having to deal with this situation but I think corrective measures can be accomplished without upsetting your entire home. Let's see what your home inspector has to offer. P.S. Make sure the home inspector is licensed with the State....See Moreronda_in_carolina
