Neil-thanks! Some friends and I were sitting around singing Christmas carols last week. One guy started singing the words above to the tune of ¨Deck the Halls¨ but he only knew the first verse. I can't wait to share the rest of the song with him.

We have a good friend Rudy who doesn't consider it Chrismas unless he's playing Dominick the Donkey. He'll often call up Christy and play it for her. LOL. I think it's a somewhat regional song and apparently has gotten most play from here to Boston.

Here's what Wikipedia says about it: Dominick the Donkey is a Christmas song written by Ray Allen, Sam Saltzberg, and Lou Monte, first sung by Monte in 1960. The song describes a donkey who helps Santa Claus bring presents to children in Italy.

I sure haven't heard some of these songs you all are talking about. I just listened to Dominick the Donkey and don't know whether it's good or bad that I haven't heard some of them.LOL

I have a Dr. Demento CD, I use it as an antidote to The Little Drummer Boy and his ilk, it has all the silly songs, and the barking dogs and some fine satire about the commercialization of Christmas, a hilarious Cheech and Chong bit about Santa and his old Lady.
Interesting: "Christmastime at Ground Zero" which meant something entirely different then, during the duck and cover days...meanings sure change
