Just got back. Ain't technology magical? The first two were taken whilst walking along the shore. The water is about 6 feet shallower than normal. This isn't because of the drought, but is a result of government policy, that of the TVA. The third was taken from my kayak. The two fishermen were the only others I saw on when I was out. That was a couple of hours well spent. May not be able to do this much come January.

I have a big question to ask you. On the local news at noon today, it was stated that Astronomers reported a large meteor would hit Mars January 30-a 75 to 1 chance. Astronomers were excited to see the effects.

I can't find anything about it anywhere else.Have you heard anything? Was my local channel pulling a very early April Fools joke or have i started hallucinating? Am big time curious. Thanks a lot

Actually, after further reading we may get to see what happens at the Irish site. Seems the phenomena occurs a couple of day before and after the exact day of the the solstice.

Drat, I've have to look for the time of local sunrise at the site in Ireland to determine sunrise. Then, let's see, England is six hours ahead. Is Ireland and England in the same time zone?

We had the "perfect" solstice this year, and I had been particularly anxious for it to arrive. Most people think of it as the first day of winter, but to me it's the first day of our journey to spring. I work out in the natural daylight twelve months of the year, and I notice the almost imperceptible graduations of light from day to day and it's so very welcome inside the greenhouses as it spells warmth and good growth on the plants.

I was taking my dog a walk the night of the solstice and it was a large moon and clouds scutting along the sky. The moon last night was also awesome and the winds after midnight were very dramatic. We are also getting all the rain this month we didn't get through spring and summer and for that I am very thankful.

I am so ready this year to see the calendar flip over to January and get started on the growing season. There are already trays of seeds in the greenhouse.

The link to Ireland was lovely and I sat drinking tea and watching the sun rise. Thank you for the link to this site. As for Stonehenge, it has a particular draw to me. My surname ancestors are from Wiltshire and the Salisbury plains and they can be traced back there as a family as far as written records allow. Even though one cannot enter the circle anymore because of the damage caused by souvenir hunters and traffic, it is still much more accessible and uncommercial than it would be had it been located in the U.S. If it were here, there'd be themeparks, and stonehenge burgers, and five square miles around it would be a parking lot and condos.

It's a thick fictional history from pre-historic times till modern times One of my favorite books with rememberable characters, i've read several times. It was copyrighted in 1987

I did'nt mean to steal this thread so forgive me. Thanks so much for the good wishes. I think my puter may finally be fixed. I'm still on line. That fact will help the depression a lot.I missed it so much. Had my meds changed which seems to have helped too. Have a great day all.

Vickie, thank you for suggesting the book. I'll write it down, tuck it in my purse and see if the library has it. I get such little chance to read fiction, but I still like to have a good book or two on the queue for when I can steal a few hours.
