Aunt Avis & Aunt Julia

I've shared stories of my two remaining aunts here on

several occasions.

Aunt Avis is 89 and is my dad's sister.

Aunt Julia is 81 and is my mom's sister.

Avis is the aunt that bought the little sporty car

and the riding lawn mower.

Julia is the aunt that was robbed and went to court to put

the low lifes behind bars.

Neil and I just spent a few days in Indiana to visit

aunt Avis. She has recently sold her little farm house

and her riding lawn mower, she still drives her little car.

She is now living in an assisted living place and from

what we could see is VERY happy.

She was telling us that she had given each of her three

children some money and had gone to the funeral home and

made arrangements for her funeral. She was telling us that

when it came time to pick out the casket that she wanted to

ask the man if she could try it out first. She said, "if

a feller was going to have to lay there for any length of

time, it needed to be comfortable." Neil and I laughed

until we cried.

The latest Miss Julia story happened when she had to get

an MRI recently. She said she got bored while she was lying

there listening to the clanging and banging and started singing to pass the time.

She said just when she was really getting into her song,

a male voice said "Miss Julia uh, could you uh, stop

singing." At first she said it hurt her feelings until he

explained that she needed to be perfectly still while she

was getting the MRI.

Lord, how I love those two, I'm so lucky to have them in my life.
