Yes, cyps are very expensive. But they are worth every last dollar. Hello Chrissouthjersey, I think this is totally doable. One thing though... these plants really shouldn't be watered with tap water. Use bottled distilled water or rain water. Next on the list would be to consider purchasing a decent sized container that has a depth of at least 12" but preferably 18". Dig a hole and recess the planter into the ground. Don't drill any drainholes. Place about 3" of rinsed sand at the bottom. Fill up the rest with sphagnum moss. To this mixture add rain water or distilled water and mix throroughly as the sphagnum is incredibly anaerobic. The sand will settle to the bottom and this is perfectly acceptable. You will want a consistency equivalent to a thick German Cake mix batter. Add a few teaspoons of regular vinegar and kneed in with your hands OR mix in some crushed white pine needles which would be preferable. Plant your cyps. They should now be able to overwinter and should actually thrive. One thing though, most cyps have died back by now, did you get a plant that is blooming? You might want to consider planting your species of cyp according to the directions provided by Spangle Creek as opposed to what you read here somewhere here. Best wishes to you.

I am now nearing 62 years of age. I've had SO much done to me, including biopsies, hysteroscopings, endometrial ablation (age 53), sonohysterograms, trying to lose weight, progestins (heaven help the flood bleeding!), Prometrium, Mirena IUD (only lasted 3 months with it and had to have it out due to increased migraines) and the list goes on and on. Yet, I'm still building a lining and don't know why. My FSH level comes back at 17 (Canadian value) and my estradiol is at 170 (Canadian value). I'm bleeding/spotting constantly now. I've just had another biopsy and blood work but, don't know the results yet (aka: SCARED in spite of having had 6 of them over 9 years) PAP's normal and I have NO clue (neither does my third gyn know) WHY this is happening. I can't say that I get regular periods as it may be that my progesterone level is too low in conjunction with the estrogen levels? Answer from this gyn is "Hysterectomy". Great but...it doesn't solve the REASON why I have this still going on, does it? It's a "go to answer" when they are stumped. I have signed the papers for it but, there's no surgical date set yet, which could be next year (2019)??? I am at a loss as to what to do next. Any suggestions would help as I'm tired of wearing pads and have gone to bladder control pads for size. Uggghhhh......reading "Dr. Google" too much has me going nuts (as do the docs who don't know).
