Just mad and Ranting

Two weeks ago a friend called to see if I had any plants for sale, she had met a lady who was new in town and was looking to buy some house plants. I told her to come on over I had a 4ft pencil cacti and a few other things I could sale. Well I sold her several things for 10$ total and gave her 10 or 12 cuttings. She got very ugly with me because I would not sell her my mother spider plant I have had this plant for 12years and started 100's of new plant from her to trade and give away. She also got mad I would not give or sale her a fig tree, I have several started but they are all promised to other people. Well the lady left mad. Over the last two weeks I have seen the Lady driving down my road several times.

When we got home last night after a great day with friends, I went to check the plants under the deck where I start cuttings and keep big pots when it gets cool. All the pots had been turned over or broken all my seed trays turned upside down. And the cord on 3 heading pads had been cut. The only thing missing was my big spider 2 figs, and a ficus. I stayed up most of the night tring to save what I could. I called my friend to tell her about it and she has had several plant stolen off her front deck in the last 2 weeks.

Thanks everyone for letting me rant I just can not understand why people do things like this. Claudia is back from the store with parts to fix the heating pads so better get to it.

I am so sorry to hear about the vandalism and theft. It sounds like the lady has a screw loose.

Have you considered contacting the police?

We considered the police, but feel that they have more important things to do. Plus I can not be sure that the said lady did it, it just looks like it to me. If it was her I think that maybe she is sick. I lost a few plants but have many more it cost 12.00 to fix the heating pads, but now we have to lock the drive way gate when we leave for a few hours something we have never done.

You should be able to get a plat map of your property from your county's appraisal district. It is really frustrating when someone damages your property and thinks they're doing you a favor for some strange reason. Try talking to her again and explain - again - why she shouldn't mow your yard. You might also want to contact your city's code compliance department to find out if there is some code that says something about planting a shrub that large right on the property line. Maybe she shouldn't have done that (all right, we all KNOW she shouldn't have done that) according to some city code and maybe they could be removed? Also let them know about how she is damaging your property and see if they can suggest anything that can be done. You have every right to prune those photinias all the way up if you want to since they are hanging over your property. I can't stand those shrubs, especially when they are planted in the wrong space. Obviously right on the property line is the absolute wrong space.

We talk about that all the time. It's so refreshing when we see a show - currently I think Bargain Mansions may be one that does it - where people say, "Oh, this needs replaced/doesn't fit the design, but it's in good shape so we'll use it on another project." Very few do. We're about to redo our cabinets and hope to save some. They are solid oak and the boxes are SOLID...but they were built in place, have no backs and are nailed to the walls with really big, long nails. As we discovered taking out a vanity, you are unlikely to move them without a sledge and pry bar.

Priceline has always only guaranteed double occupancy in their terms of service. Hotwire and some other sights allow you to put the number of people staying. Some sites offer you a choice of specific available rooms at the time of booking. I don't understand how you were able to request a room with two beds at Priceline. Other sites show available rooms with different beds but I have never seen this on Priceline. They ask how many rooms, not even how many people nor how many beds. I thought maybe things had changed since it's been a while since I've used Priceline but it is still the same. No field for special room requests. I generally book online and then call the hotel directly and immediately if I have a special request. I have always been accommodated as long as they had the ability. I have even been upgraded at no extra charge.

Call the police anyway. This creates a paper trail that is so necessary for law enforcement. They operate under the assumption that iffin it ain't on paper, it didn't happen.

He's right. And consider that this probably isn't about theft anyway, it's about retribution. How do you know it won't stop there?

My friend Jill who sent the lady to me and has also lost plants off her deck came over last night with a cake and tears in her eyes. We had a long talk and today her and Claudia went to make a police report. Thanks for all the advice posted by my friends here without it I might had went a different way and felt very bad if it happen to someone else. Now we will have a paper trail. Will let you know what the police say.

It was such a personal attack. She cut wires. Was she carying a knife. Sounds like a psycho. I hope all goes well.

I agree. It's just a creepy kind of thing to happen & was obviously done with a nasty vehemence. I'm glad you reported it to the police. That woman needs to be watched.

It is shocking that someone would help themself to your plants. Or anybody's plants. You have every reason to be upset.

Claudia and Jill made a police report. The police have had several other reports of plants and things missing from people's ysrds over the last month. They also have a report of a lady who got mad and broke some glassware at a resale shop when they would not sale her a lamp at less then half the asking price. Two nights later the front windows of the shop were broke out.The police think that the same person did all this things, they act like they know who she is because someone got her truck numder and will pick her up soon.
Yes she needs to be stoped but not put in jail she is sick and needs help. Its not about money she had a almost new truck and when she paid me she had money and CC in her wallet. She just can not handle the word NO.
We made Jill stay the night with us and only took her home after she got her 18yr old grandson to come stay for a week or so. We will keep the driveway gate closed and let the dogs loose at night but can not say how long that will last, I can not live like that.

Perhaps soon the woman will be stopped.
makes you wonder what she might do if she REALLY
