Rain More Rain and Excess

Rain more rain still more rain and canes lay down so I bought some home.

Had to tie Catherine Guillot up it was so soaked and heavy

I love all the great old roses of Guillot they gave us so many over the last 2 centuries and continue in this with their Generosas. I was on help me find roses yesterday going thru the beautiful newerr creations of Dominique Massad and the older roses of Guillot.

This is Paul Bocuse each stem has 4 to 5 fragrant blooms

Joe---I know exactly how you feel. It has been difficult trying to get some good pictures.
Everyting sure looks green and lush and lots of new growth but picture taking is difficult----The single roses look pretty good..

speaking of Generosa roses --I love my Martine Guillot---she is a beauty---

Paul Bocuse is breathtaking! I had no idea it was so beautiful. The photograph you took of it is superb. I wonder how it would do in my climate. Catherine and Ballerina are wonderful too.

Actually the 12 inches of water was just on the ground in my garden--The official rain gauge in my community registered 14 plus inches. The burger King 3 blocks from me had water up past the bottoms of their windows, and the town had LOTS of cars under water, and WAY too many houses had water inside. Spring Hill is about 11-12 hours south of me-I have friends that live there too. Thanks for the concern....

We've had about three quarters of an inch in the last two days. We didn't have any ice at all here, but I've been driving to Weatherford every morning this week to work and I got about halfway there this morning and had to turn around because the roads got icy. My car was never meant to handle ice and I'm not about to test it. It's pretty crazy how the road can go from fine to horrible in just a few feet. It's very dangerous. I love the rain but I'm ready for it to be nice out. I have a lot to do before it's time to plant and I'm running out of time. I'd like it to be dry and warm long enough to get everything done and then it can rain as much as it wants. I'd add "but not too much!" to the end of that, but it's not like it would ever do that here anyway. lol Leslie

well i picked the pod from the 7 pot brown and 1 guy backed out on the taste test so me and the other guy halved it ...... had a real good fruity flavor then a few seconds later the heat was quite intense my buddy starting using his Tea as mouth wash ... lol first it hit the back of the throat then moved to the top of the tongue seemed a bit hotter then the 7 pot reds i have tried . will have to run a few more test i will let the next ripe one sit on the plant for a couple weeks to build up more heat

ugh, I live right on the coast of Northern Cal and once it warms up inland it will be foggy here all day every day for the most part. Does cut down on the need to water as the trees and shrubs do a good job of capturing the moisture and channeling it to their root zones, but it can be oppressive especially after a rainier than usual year. NOT COMPLAINING, just explaining! Have been plenty of rain and showers in the forecast this past week but not much action on the coast besides that thunderstorm the beginning of the week which was one of the noisiest I have heard. A friend was driving to Sacramento during the worst of it and he was exhausted by the time they arrived, but so amped he could not sleep.

Joseph, would you mind sharing a little of that rain? The ground is hard as a rock and dry as a bone here. Your pictures are wonderful as always. I'm regretting my haste in getting rid of ballerina.

Catherine is a Bourbon sold a few years back by Ashdowns. It pust on a great Spring flush but I do'nt get that great a repeat which is probably due to it's position. It's a seedling of Louise Odier.

Would you look at all those blooms! Excess of blooms is right. I should have dug up Catherine when you weren't looking and thrown her in my suitcase :-)

Superb pictures. I've always liked Louise Odier, and your pics of Catherine Guillot really show the beauty of the Bourbons.
