'Chilling' phals to initiate spikes

Okay, so phals are outside as the nights cool, hoping to start some spikes on the spring flowering ones.

Once you see the tiny spike nub has broken out, when do they come in? Leave them out for the spike to continue to develop outside? Or bring them in for the spike to continue to develop in my nice warm light room?

I've had 7 or 8 of the spike-nub phals outside for the last week, and haven't seen any further development of the spike. So today they came in, maybe the warmer light room (71F at night this time of year) will help them zoom along.

But I can reverse the decision, and wondered what other people do.
