In place of all the pig tails, cowlicks and braces, I see grey hairs, balding, and wrinkled faces. Skin tight clothing, has been replaced with elastic, And I maybe wrong, but "Have some of you had Plastic? Hot rod sports cars, with big engines that ran, have now been replaced with slow mini vans. Our biggest fear. was who to take to the prom, Now were wondering who's gonna care for mom! Getting caught outside with out a hall pass, has been replaced, with worries over last night's gas Who's going to win, next Friday night's game, Well let's face for men some things never change! We were just going to die, without a class ring! God! It's been years since I've seen that old thing! Sneaking a smoke in the old bathroom stall, is not nearly as fun as I used to recall. But being back together if just for this night, Has made all these memories seem so shiny and bright. So tonight we'll have fun and lie about our youth. Oh this is all so funny to me when you all refer to having only 100 in your graduating class. We had 40 which was not considered an average size class. I had friends in the next school over and they graduated in a class with 12. Funny thing is all these schools are still open and still quite small although the school that had 12 in one graduating class now has 30. This was 25 years ago.

I've never been and will never (well never say never...but likely not). I was quite unpopular and felt very unsupported in my academic ambitions by the adults in my school as well, so I have zero loyalty. I also have a terrible memory and would remember almost no-one's name. I went to a wedding a few years ago and sat with some of the girls I was in high school band with. It was excruciatingly uncomfortable. One kept on bragging about her DOCTOR husband's suit he had HANDMADE in ITALY - as if none of us had ever left the country. She also made a big deal about having moved RIGHT DOWNTOWN (into our little city from our little town of origin). I was honestly almost embarrassed for her, her definitions of success and cosmopolitanism were so...small? Edited to add: I was also grumpy that day because I misused a hair product and looked like I stuck my finger in a greasy light socket. Turns out that beachy salt spray is supposed to be used on DRY curly hair, not wet! Fortunately my friends rum and coke helped me forget the hair situation.

Thanks, all! Since all my commercial pots came unglazed inside, I did wonder. I will go ahead and glaze this one inside. Steve, I’d be interested to know how your experiments work out. Long ago, when I first got a deck and started putting annuals out on it, I decoratively painted a lot of clay pots to get something attractive without spending much money. Then when moisture coming from inside lifted off the paint, and salt came through to the outside, they looked terrible. Now on the deck all the pots are either plain clay or the lightweight foam kind in a clay look-alike color. But I have part shade back there, so watering is not a huge chore. In the front I have a large multi-level paver patio. That’s where all the glazed pots are. It gets more sun and heat in the morning to early afternoon. If I had plain clay there I’d be watering twice a day. I have never grown a perennial in a pot until last year. I moved a mini I’ve had for ~ 5 years, Peanut, that had always looked scruffy and holey. It was either throw it out in disgust, or try a pot. It tripled in size in the pot and flourished. I am overwintering that outside, in the shade under the eaves and under a juniper. It is a plastic pot. It is turned on its side with wire mesh wired over it to keep my aggressive squirrels out. I’ll see if it makes it. This gave me the idea to try more minis in pots. I’d see them better, and some just might prefer it. I can move the pot around if they end up needing more shade. Ken, wet clay is very heavy. It will be much lighter after drying and firing. So once it has soil in it, it might be about the same as it is now. I have a wheeled plant stand I use when hauling my big pots in and out.
