Lilo's DVD Queue Forms To The Left.

Did you think any queue I had something to do with would form to the right?:)

In order to establish some fairness for people who are not in the GP 24/7 I'd like to establish a line for people who would like to be part of the Lilo DVD chain. Not me being pushy, me trying to be helpful.

Here's how it will work. This first queue is limited to fifteen people. When we've gone through that I will begin a second queue ~ I just somehow feel it will be more manageable.

Post to this and take the next available number. I will endeavour to keep track and say who is next and whomever has the dvd anbd finished with it will ask that person for their address (via email) and send it to them. It might be good to then post here and say "I have seen it and sent the dvd on to so and so who is #_".

It's been suggested the dvd should move on no later then seven days after receipt of it. Otherwise it could become a very protracted business. Please make it sooner if you can.

Marda has it now. Marda, please send it to #1 on the list.

#1 - when you get it watch it and send it to #2 and let us know you have done so.

We are smart people here, we can do this:))

Wow, I can't believe I am the first lurker to step forward! I must confess I've been a lurker for years. Kind of sad because I know all of you and you know nothing about me. I would love to see Lilo's dvd, but if you decide not to share with lurkers, that's fine. I would love to see it and I promise to follow all the rules and send it on. Thanks in advance...

Well, I'm currently watching two shows - Castle and Game of Thrones. Castle's a light series, but Game of Thrones is very intriguing so far. It feels like a mix of ROME and LotR, with more political backstabbing than either one. The politicking between the characters and different houses is definitely a staying factor for me. The level of detail that went into the opening sequence is amazing. The actors' names have their characters' house sigils next to them. On the map, each house's stronghold cities have the house symbols on buildings. Also, the wooden bar carvings throughout the opening sequence tell Westeros' history. Once again, I spoiled some of the future events by while reading wiki articles in an attempt to keep the multitude of characters straight in my head. TBH, now I am more curious to see the events play out. I'm also looking forward to the upcoming novel ;)

update on DVD. I saw it on Friday..wonderful wonderful..packaged it up and went to the post office the same day and sent it to Pidge. Either she received it Saturday,or will get it tomorrow,since there is no delivery today.

I was going to be patient and let others have a crack at it first, but it looks as if you still have a spot or two on this queue, so please put me down. It appears to be moving along well. Nobody is sitting on it. I still have those sinking "where's Pinky" feelings with the pass alongs. I had the joy of knowing her. LOLOL.

Sorry Sheila, the DVD arrived yesterday. It was late in the night when I arrived home and I had two choices...let you know it arrived, or watch it. Guess what I chose to do? :) Sorry! I couldn't help it! Matter of fact, I'm going to go watch it one more time before I send it off to Wanda!

I've got my brand-new first ever DVD Player all set up. Aside from a brief test run, I'm waiting for my turn at Lilo's film. I think it's going to be so memorable... josh

When we began this I asked that each person let us know when then got it and passed it on. Just a simple courtesy to keep folks informed and to give some sense of how fast or slow the queue is moving.

I want to let you all know that Lilo's documentary is not terribly long - so you don't need to set aside an entire evening to look at it.

Those at the end of the list can expect to wait another couple of months at this rate, so be prepared.

Before I married the DH, I lived in a small village on the edge of the county. They did not have mail delivery. I was flabbergasted. Even when I lived in the Ozarks, there was an old lady in a nearby similar small village who delivered mail on a mule, lol. I thought everyone in America had mail delivery. But .............. noooooooooooooo..... one had to go to the post office to pick up mail. Bummer for people who worked, as the post office had.........well..........regular post office hours.

I don't have mail delivery and need to go to the Post Office to pick up my mail. For the first fifteen years or so I was required to rent a P.O. Box and then one day there was a lovely form to fill out declaring my physical address and lo and behold, from then on my P.O. Box was free of charge. All of us living in the "hinterland" so to speak assume there was a class action law-suit brewing somewhere and that brought about the change - it really is only fair, isn't it?
UPS and Fedex apparently have no problem finding us, though.
I like going to the P.O., one runs into old friends and acquaintances, looks at the bulletin board finding out who sells what and how many dogs are lost and found. The door of the P.O. is the place to find out who has left us and where the memorial service - or most often- the Celebration of the Life is going to be - all things a mail-carrier would not have time or information to disseminate.
It is not as friendly and homey as it used to be, apparently because of National Security personnel gets rotated frequently and no ones knows any one any more, it is much more formal, at least as far as those behind the counter are concerned. Too sad!

I really meant I'm not sure how long it takes the mail to get from a to b. as in how many miles the mail travels from one to another. Lilo, I remember being freed from paying for the p.o. box when I lived in rural N. California, although luckily we still had to show up at the post office.

We had a wonderful postmistress and I logged many pleasant hours visiting with her.

I believe Michelle has it Lilo. She's #4 and Wanda said last week she was mailing it to her.

I asked at the beginning for updates when someone got it but no one seems to be doing that. It's taking a long time to get around I'm afraid.

Maybe someone will respond to this since you ask, Lilo.

I have kept a note of the order -

The pace it moves around at depends on the schedule of people and the speed of the postal service. Doesn't bother me personally how long it takes, I just think it's a good idea to know where it is so we don't lose track of it.

By the way, Lilo, is this your only copy? If some if someone along the way has the capability of burning a copy that would be a good idea perhaps. If it's ok with Lilo. Just in case it got lost in the mail.

Sheila, Marilyn made the copies for me and saved the file; she told me that, if anyone wants a copy, she'll do it for what it costs her: disc, padded envelope and postage.
So it shall not be lost.
I had copies made for the family members who wanted it and an extra couple that are currently loose somewhere in town - they are supposed to be returned, but I'm not sure about that.
The DVD was used in a High School in Ukiah, a friend's son brought it for his World History class - sure was an eye-opener for today's kids!

4 people have had it in a 5 week period,so it's averaging out to a little over a week per person. Going by this you can pretty much figure out when you'll have the DVD.

It's a bit about Lilo's history and background. Lilo is originally from Germany and was a young adult during WWII. She became an American war bride. The dvd is about the war brides who came to America, and other countries, I believe.
