Wow lots of interesting stuff here! I think there are multiple issues here, and, since the health of the plants isn't great, I would deal with all possible problems rather than hunt down one specific one. If it were me I would do the following, since doing them would fix any of the most likely problems that you may be having. I would change the mix to a free draining one. I would check the roots, and pot into a container that is only a little larger than the rootball. I would put them in a partially sunny position after the repot until they get used to their new mix and pot. I would then move to a sunny location once things started to settle. I would make sure the room had plenty of humidity with gravel trays or a humidity. I would make sure the room was warm, and provide bottom heat to the pots if possible. I would inspect for bugs. Mites and scale seem the most prolific - possibly mites in your case. Webbing is a telltale sign, and sometimes hard to spot, but not always present. I would treat with Toni's spray regardless (she can tell you the ingredients, or you can search previous posts.) If you do spot bugs, use Toni's spray or a suitable one for fruiting plants from a garden centre. I would water these (after the repot) only when the new medium was closer to dry than damp. In a new medium you won't have to worry so much over watering - if it is the right medium it is unlikely you will overwater unless you go nuts with it. Fertilize only very lightly until the tree is back to health, then feed with a high nitrogen feed every couple of weeks. Citrus bounce back, but they take time. These are not by any means the be all and end all of things you should do, they are merely what I personally would do :) Danny

Terracing (sp.?) is hard work. We have a very steep hill in our back yard which is still a work in progress. I have just planted there without creating terraces. I have a several trees (Nellie Stevens hollies and dogwoods), azaleas, mountain laurel, and plenty of weeds at this point. I plan to clean it out and fill in with smaller things like hostas, but I definitely want things that don't require a lot of upkeep since the hill is difficult to navigate, especially as I get older! Nonetheless, if you are willing to put in the hours, terraces would be really nice. Railroad ties should work and would look nice with plants tumbling over them. In fact, once you finish there, feel free to head here!!! :)

Thsnk ya, Sue. Thast should be tasty - I'll try it. I got the devil a couple of days ago for being anti-U.S. Being sneaky, too, sort of sliding the barbs in underhanded-like. I have respect and affection for your country - Sue was from Iowa, kids have dual citizenship. But when you perceive that someone that you care about has problems, are you doing them a favour by keeping your mouth shut? Does a doctor who diagnoses cancer, or some less drastic illness, do his patient any favour if, concerned about the immediate emotional upset to the patient, s/he keeps her/his mouth shut? There's self-interest, too - Canada does 3/4 of our export-import business with the U.S. When you guys get a sneeze - we get pneumonia. Some years ago when I was expressing concern about so much of our business being bought by outsiders, some fellow workers said they didn't care about the owner, as long s they had a job. I said that in some cases, if there is equal profitability in the work of two plants and business shrinks, in some cases the plant in the country of the parent may be kept open, but the one in a foreign country closed down. Some would say that I need not be concerned these days - being retired, I'm not in need of running around looking for employment. But if a major part of the work force becomes unemployed, or working in low-pay jobs, they won't be paying much into pension funds, so ... ... payouts to me may be drastically curtailed.
