Less cleavage would equal more credibility (for this particular subject matter), in my opinion, lol. I laughed outloud when you practically fell out of your sweater in the shots with the rabbits, etc. Other than THAT.......! I liked it a bunch!

Well, as a male, I was very appreciative of your cleavage! ;-)

In fact I think you are a very attractive woman and I suspect that will assist you in marketing your show. A good looking host is a good selling point.

However, you will have to consider your audience. Rhizo as a female is expressing a valid concern. Your showing some cleavage probably will alienate some female viewers while attracting more male viewers.

A trade off that may be worth considering in a strategic sort of way. I don't think there is a right or wrong here, just a successful/unsuccessful formula and I don't have any experience in TV or with various stations so can't help there at all.

Still, I enjoyed your intro clip and wish you all the success in the world getting it on a station that will compensate you well and give you good exposure and publicity.

There was a guy a couple years ago who came on this site and asked for ideas from members for a show he was planning. He was successful in getting a show on the air, but I only saw it for one season and don't know what happened after that.

I didn't find the information on his show to be bad, but it wasn't particularly good either. I got the idea from his post here and from his show that he wasn't really all that accomplished as a gardener and it showed in the content he offered.

On the other hand there is Paul James on 'Gardening by the Yard' fame. I enjoy his show, but often find myself disagreeing with some of what he says. The primary reason I watch his show is because I like his on air personality.

Ultimately, even if you get on the air, the long term success of your show will depend on ratings and by and large that will be determined by how many people like your on air persona.

In short, I like your personality on display, and also your cleavage. Rhizo didn't care for your cleavage.

Somehow, you have to make us both happy ;-)

Wait a minute, lololol! I could care LESS if she wants to show the girls all over the place! It's just that I, personally, am more attracted to substance. HGIC has dropped the gardening/horticultural shows I used to watch....and I honestly find very little of interest in any of what little remains. I don't have access to other satellite or cable networks that might offer that kind of programming. I am a very minor market!

I don't think patti NEEDS to use her physical attributes to attract sponsorship or attention.....but it sure won't be the first time that it's been done! It seemed like she has the kind of personality and on-camera warmth that will win folks over....without putting the cleavage in the middle of the shot. But I am certainly not bothered or offended.

LOL, Rhizo. I agree with you that Patti doesn't NEED to show the cleavage, I just appreciate that she does. ;-)

I find the entire idea of sustainable, organic agriculture fascinating, but realistically the whole home spinning thing bores me to death. If there is one area I prefer synthetics over organics, it is in materials used for clothing.

If I am to watch that episode some cleavage will help hold my attention. ;-)

I liked it, and it definitely kept my attention, but I think rhizo has a point, some people arent going to like the boob thing but that's just a matter of being more aware of what you wear. That black top was just wayyy low cut since you were bending and moving around, and it could be seen as a bit tacky or unprofessional, dont take offence but you asked for opinions. :)

The other thing that occurred to me is that most of the stuff you were talking about was fairly heavy duty. Im just thinking that maybe you could include some bits about composting or worm farming or seed starting, a few *lighter* segments, otherwise it might seem like it's aimed at too narrow an audience, make it seem more mainstream is what Im getting at so that it's obvious that even someone living in an apartment etc would be interested in tuning in.

I really liked the concept though

Hi Patti. I love the idea and concept behind your show. I realize this was just a "pilot" attempt, and perhaps you wanted to show a range of some of the things the show would like to cover, but I felt it was way too light on substance. Now, if you were to do one show with just two subjects, and maybe a third, small segment on something quick - tips, viewer ideas, etc., that would be a lot more interesting and informative. Again, I'm guessing that here you wanted to show a range of subjects and that when/if you do a true episode, it would indeed be more substantial.

I would also love to see more of your background - I found myself wanting to see your house, your yard, your neighborhood - since it deals with sustainable urban agriculture, I wanted to see your surroundings to get a feel for exactly what situation you were in, and to be able to adapt that to mine. Again, this is something that perhaps you are planning on doing in any future shows.

I thought you had a very good on-screen presence, good speaking, good voice projection and liveliness - you seem quite comfortable in front of a camera. Best of luck to you. I'll be keeping an eye out for you!

That aside, some good stuff.

I generally prefer natural materials for clothes. I knew a guy that was in a kerosene heater fire whilst on a camping/hunting trip and he survived while others died due in some part to the fact that they had synthetic fibers melted to their bodies.

Wool retains insulating value when wet. I like the feel of cotton and hate synthetics for my "indoor" clothes. Water proofing is obviously where natural fibers fall flat, however.

When you're done with natural fiber clothes- you can compost them.

Just saw it, loved it and would like to see more. It's fascinating seeing
people make alot from a small space, very resourceful.

I guess I must be blind or too garden obsessed. I didn't even notice Patti's cleavage. But then again I have plenty of my own so seldom do I feel threatened by another woman who has it too. I was too focused on what she had to say and trying to see her surroundings.

I noticed the potential for an interesting, informative and inspiring show full of topics I would like to know more about. Sadly I doubt if HGTV would carry it because shows like that just aren't in their line-up anymore.

I figured you touched on many topics and didn't give much "sustenance" to any of them because you were trying to convey what your show could possibly contain?
