Sick Goldfish

I had a fish die. It was swimming erratically and had red, swollen gills. Now the rest of the fish are hiding in the corner; they had been starting to swim around and bask in the sun. When they come out, they seem OK. The smaller fish (last years fry) are more active. The water has warmed up to 48 degrees and a water chemistry test revealed no problems. I have not changed the water yet this spring. There is little debris and I netted most of it out just before that first fish died. I have 4 six inch fish in 530 gallons and an unknown number of fry (at least six; they are all black and impossible to see).

Does anyone have any ideas? I am changing my water now.
