Oh Gosh!!! They have those classic car shows every now and then. They like to drive the road in back of my house. I would like to be like one of those beauties......but, please don't make me decide which one. I even think that I would like to be one of those old Model T Fords. They look dignified.

Actually, I fear that I am one of those compact cars, dull gray, not much pick up, fairly good millage, but nothing bright and shiny. Too many dings and dents. Don't need much upkeep, but the tranmission will probably be the first thing to go. The get-up and go is very sluggish, doesn't shift well the first thing in the morning.

Just good reliable transportation. I'll get there, but there won't be anything exciting about the trip.

Well...I just got my 5 year old Honda...uh...face lifted!
It seems to be invisible..backed into, parking lot crunch..the guy behind bangs me leaving the parking lot, the old woman ( likely younger than I am!) backed into me as I was waiting in a line of traffic, the air conditioning man crunched my bumper after installing the many $$$ new system...and the crowning blow, a friend backed into my car while taking me to dinner for my birthday.
So my car has had a face lift! Got her hair colored and most of the wrinkles smoothed out...
Now me?....Still dealing with the sags and rumpled skin...
But if I could be any kind of car? I think I would be something new and fast....with an engine that purrs quietly and exudes great power....and reliability.
Maybe a Jaguar...or a Maserati...or perhaps an Aston Martin!

Oh darn it, Sheila, that's what I was going to say. Maybe I'll just be a different color, maybe British racing green.

Then again, maybe I'll have another life as an old Ford roadster, one of those with a rumble seat. My mother had one of these when I was a kid--she won it in a contest!--and I loved riding in it. Those cars were little but they had a lot of pizazz.

I think I'd like to be one of those cars that hasn't been invented yet, a speedy little thing with great pickup, and plenty of room inside to carry all your friends as you go zipping around the countryside, and totally solar-powered. With a titanium finish, of course.

I'd like to think that reality is that I'm very much like my old Mazda: a car sedate in appearance with superb craftmanship hidden under the hood, that was equally at ease plodding along city streets or flying low on the open road. It was a good car, hard-working, reliable, fulfilling all hopes, and living twice as long as the best expectation. We're both old and creaky now, and sometimes it takes two tries to get the engine started; our finish has crackled, and our innards need replacing, but we still plod along the city streets, and dream of flying on the open road.

Might as well go with a little style. It was the fastest thing ever seen in the 19 teens...... Could do 80 mph on a paved road....

What would I like to be a Mclaren, any of them. sleek, curvy, and even more wonderful things under the hood. Although, I think I'd like to be a deep eggplant color, downshifting from my present red.

Everyone says my car is "so me". I must've heard that said at least a thousand times now in 16 years, as of this month. It's paid for, in decent running shape, but shoddy exterior, red and cute.

The Lexus IS is what I would like to be. Luxurious yet sporty.

What I really am is an orignal Volkswagon. Low to the ground and rounded. Easy to fix, fairly economical, yet not too common.

One of those old Triumphs from the 1950's that were imported into the US with the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car.

OMG, did you ever bring back some memories, Andie. When I dropped out of school the first time to get married and go to work, I was car shopping. We lived in the foothills of the Ozark mountain, not exactly the most cosmopolitan areas of the earth. I happened on a Triumph Spitfire, and took it out for a test spin. Nowhere to go but the cornfields. I pulls off the road up a tractor trail and goes to turn it around and no way, no how could I get it into reverse. I was a child of the corn in that little red Spitfire, with tears in my eyes for awhile trying to get back to the road. I can't even imagine the residue they found on that car after I returned it. LOL.

My brother restored a Triumph Spitfire years ago, and we had so much fun with that car.

I think I probably am the car I actually do drive - a Ford Focus hatchback. Small and compactly built, practical, tries to be 'green', likes to have fun without it costing lots, not glamorous but cheery and happy, and always ready to get up and go someplace. Not over powerful and not likely to turn heads, but not intimidating either.

Oh, and designed in the UK . . . . .
