Please Identify this mushroom????

I found a couple of these growing in my lawn. They pop up overnight and only last a day or so. Are they poisonous or just ugly?

I sometimes get those in the mulchbeds too.

As to liability, it seems that if you never notify your neighbor about their dangerous situation, they will get away free if something bad happens. But if they are on notice but choose to do nothing, they may well be responsible legally. There is a difference between a healthy tree that you dislike, or a dying/dead tree or limb a normal person/arborist can see it causes possible damage. SO if you have doubt, send written notice, put it on paper trail. It's an "Elegant Stinkhorn"

Oh believe me, we weren't even thinking of eating them. I just wanted to make sure they won't harm the kids if they come in contact with them. Thanks for the link. I tried to find something prior to posting here and had little success. I know jack about mushrooms.....

We just started seeing them, too. I went to squish them to deter kid investigation and I quickly found out the source of the name. EEEW. Awful.

The Stinkhorn is not poisonous, in fact in China it is a delicacy like Bird Nest Soup. I donÂt think you will have to worry about children eating them, if they do, it will be a good lesson they will not have to repeat to learn.
