The reason I say to get the parts right away is who knows what he might do to the old part once he gets it out to his service van. OR he could have a similar non working part in his truck stock already. Boy I'll tell you what, after reading some of the posts in this forum over the past couple years on and off I'm almost ashamed to be associated with some of these useless no loads! Its getting to the point not only in this profession but just about all the service trades that the general public is so skeptical of anyone who comes in and does any kind of work on their house. I guess we can thank the sleazy professional dirtbags for that. Apparently there are more out there then I ever figured. I only call them professional because they perform their service for money CERTAINLY NOT because they are qualified to do it to the best of their ability. Makes me kinda glad my time in this trade is drawing to a close in a few years. Not soon enough.

$330 just for 2.75# of Puron sounds pretty high. We charge about $129 for a leak search on top of $84 service call. As for calling around and doing immediately, a coil change is at least 1/2 day job and not something every tech does. We sure don't have that kind of time in our schedule that we can do immediately. We also send installers with sheet metal equipment for a neat job. If hot, we'll offer a refill discounted to tide them over. Not sure that $1400 is out of line. We always recover remaining refrigerant and put in fresh just to be sure we aren't reusing contaminated juice.

Just last week we were charged $1.50 + $0.12 tax for the very same thing-SAFE WARRANTY. We didn't notice it at check out as we were in a hurry to catch the airport shuttle. We didn't use the safe and Howard Johnson's (Cleveland Airport)has since received a not so nice email about this! It is indeed a rip off! No response from them yet...
