Oh I agree!!! I was so very impressed with every aspect and they way they lit the torch! And the precision of the performers was just amazing! Very glad I watched as this one will go down in the Olympic history books!

I made it through the whole thing, but boy, oh boy was it ever long!! Plus the way the parade of nations came in was really, really confusing. I think I'm pretty good at geography, but some of those countries had me stumped. I also thought that President Bush could have tried to look a little less bored with the whole proceeding.

It's going to be interesting to see how some of the athletes do dealing with the pollution in Beijing.

The opening was stunning...absolutely stunning. I watched with a friend who has tvo so we skipped the commercials and the time just flew. We also skipped the endless that at the beginning from Bob Costas and Co.,

The UK has the games next time. Good luck to them, I don't think anyone will ever top China's ceremony.

Sure was a great show. I don't think that this will be topped by anyone for a while.
If nobody hears from me for a while, I am watching the games. Family tradition: during the Olympics it's everyman for himself, mother is watching TV.

I tuned in somewhere in the middle of the parade of nations. Lots and lots of nations there are. Think Dubya should have left his watch at the hotel though since watching him check it in front of the entire world was TACKY.

I didn't watch the opening ceremonies.

I got burned out after many years of hearing things like:

"The giant heads on sticks symbolize the struggle of the earthworms against the oppression of dirt."

"When the swarm of children dressed in white meet the headless robed anteaters the conflict between the species is resolved and the spirit of the Olympics is born."

But, let me have my every-four-year fix of gymnastics and diving. I'll be happy.

One of my customers, actually more of a good friend, is in Beijing to watch her grand daughter in the fencing competition. I imagine she is very exited right now as they won all three medals in yesterday's contests.

I greatly enjoyed the whole event. Some of the synchronized stuff nrealy knocked me out--how 2000+ people could keep those lines absolutely straight seemed almost unbelieveable to me.
And you are right about Bush continually checking his watch, lolling in his chair in obvious boredom. Better to have stayed home than that.
