That's looking good! I think the important thing is that you do have seedlings coming up everywhere. I have some slower growing spots as well. I'm hoping that the next shot of fertilizer helps them along. When were you planning to fertilize again? With what?

KBG does fill in so I think you will be ok. It may be a little late to throw more seed down.

Yes! Maturity time is 45 to 90 days (getting later, closer to 90, so it won't finish that out until spring as the clock stops in winter. Mostly, anyway).

The paint-can sized areas will fill in and catch up, and thin isn't blank. They're just slow.

You can fertilize now if you want. What to use depends on your soil. If soil tests show you were short on something, make sure to add a little of it again now--you probably didn't add it at the time of planting.

If you don't have soil test results, you can certainly use either organics (a bit late for that, but still functional here in PA) or synthetics (TurfBuilder, whatever, but don't use ANYTHING with weed killer in it!).

For very young grass, I tend to be conservative and feed at half the rate, slightly less than twice as often. Once they mature, you can step up to full feedings, but I find they seem to do better if you don't shock them all at once and keep smaller amounts of food constantly flowing in.

What fertilizer to use 30 days after seeding seems to be a choice of TB with iron or another shot of starter, if we're talking synthetics. I would like to add another choice into the mix and is probably what I will be using Sunday or Monday, Miracle-Gro Lawn Food. One feeder pack per 1500-1800 sq ft. I will hook the garden feeder up to the sprinkler system and apply like that.

Like you, I want the lawn to come in as thick and full as possible before winter. I think that a fast release fertilizer would be the best choice to use at this time, and this is just that. Next year Organics.

That is probably the trickiest question of all, and one that I have been wrestling with all week. I have some area's that have to be 5 to 6 inches tall, and others that are maybe 1 to 2 inches, and some area's look like about 3 inches. I have just cut back to once a day waterings and will see if I can mow today. Also, I will be using the bagger the first time out.

How many times per day are you watering? If it is twice I don't know how you could mow. If you can get out there without making ruts or causing other damage to the tiny seedlings, then I guess yes.

I watered yesterday morning and will see how it looks this (late) afternoon.

Maybe someone who has already done this can help you (us) out on this?

Just took a walk around my yard.......although the front is doing great (Good News), but the back yard which I thought looked great is suffering from bad grub damage. I had to pull up about 8 ft x 8 ft area of grass (sod). It just came right up. I picked up about 200 grubs also.

I know I can get some Grub killer stuff for the back yard but can i put this down on the new front yard? or will it be to soon for 29 day KBG....

How about my 8x8 dirt patch....should I seed it now or is it to late? I could alsways get about 10 pieces of sod and fix it that way too....might be easyer then trying to water again for 2-3 weeks.......
