LOL......bless your heart, all this tempest over one question about how fast something grows. I'm still confused over what you're ultimately getting and it's not your fault at all. If this is really what the trade accepts as a columnar, then it's not incorrect to use both terms, because as I said columnars are indeed fastigiate. What I, and bboy were pointing out is that columnars are not so typical in the trade, and what typically would be available commercially woud be simply the fastigiate form, and it sizes out rather more full than what the term fastigiate would imply. IOW fatigiate does not necessarily equal columnar. In the absence of a named clone, one has to simply depend on the accuracy of the binomial assignment for a plant's expected attributes. I would have expected a nursery to use one term, or the other but not both. But, calling them both is correct, if they are really offering a columnar form. But, to me the description sounds more like the fastigiate form and not the columnar form. For your purposes, I don't think it makes much difference and either would be acceptable. But to tree nerds, we know that the industry is constantly redefining nomenclature to be consistant and there is a lot of lee-way out there in how the product is defined. We just wanted you to be aware of the potential size of the fastigiate form but the description you posted already described that so you already know. Myself, I love hornbeams and feel they are underused in this country. Good luck on your hedge.

In my experience it can take forever. Some worms will migrate; many will not. I've tried this method and even 6 months later found many hundreds of worms in the side that is not being fed. However, I believe other people's worms do migrate as advertised. If anyone has a theory why it works for some and not others, I would love to hear it! Good luck with yours!

Why are you against a hiking pole? Is there a reason we need to hear? I didn't mention about guns, tasers.......Lol. I got the hiking pole idea from my hiking club, it saved a few people from dog attacks over the years on the trails. My pole is light weight and easy to carry. I know the old saying "everything happens for a good reason", but 3 dog attacks?! There is no good reason for that! I called cops on 1 dog because the owner was being a jerk. 2 of the dogs are near my house, 1 of them just a few houses away. The lab attack was in a park and the owner was right there, we both jumped in to pull her dog and my puppy away from each other, I gave her credit for doing that, and she was very sorry about it. I don't go to that park with my dogs any more, because there are always some dogs there without leashes even we have a leash rule in town. And once in a while I still walk by the 2 houses, but not all the time. I just feel safer walking dogs at night with a hiking pole. I am sure I am not your size, I need my pole for just in case there is another dog attack. I tried to carry a big long flashlight before, but it was too heavy for me. I mentioned again about the pole because someone mentioned about spray. On a windy day the pray won't work, and it might hurt yourself. You don't have to agree with me or other people's ideas. We are here to share what we do after the dog attacks, because we care. I don't see you go against guns and tasers...,,why didn't you??? :-) I am in the US by the way, it's ok to carry a hiking pole walking on the street off the trails, I have seen other people walking with hiking poles on the sidewalks, on the bike path in my neighborhood (without dogs), you can check with your local police stations. That looks matted down, but it's difficult to determine if it was because the grass was wet or not. I'd say not. Grasses that were very long and then cut can sometimes do that as the wheels of the mower crush them down and they don't stand up before the mower's passage. In this case, it looks like they aren't standing up even several hours afterward! Was the grass very long? Did you get a small amount of rain after a dry spell (it doesn't look like it, but one never knows)? Is the bottom deck of the mower clogged with matted grass? That can keep the suction of the mower from being able to pull the grass up into the blades.
