When you put manure in your yard what do your dogs do?
Comments (3)No odor. But that may also mean no nutrients. My uncle, an old farmer when I was growing up, spread manure on his fields and tilled it in within 24 hours of spreading it so the nutrients would not be lost to the atmosphere. He said what you smell from manure is nutrients going out into the air....See MoreI'm curious. What do you do to protect you and yours?
Comments (66)I've been the victim of three crimes - all preventable. 1.) Being assaulted by a man while walking with a friend down a dark street to an unlit parking lot after Fiesta in San Antonio around 2am. I was 19 and clueless. We were more mentally harmed than physically. 2.) My brand new '98 Thunderbird was broken into while parked on the street in front of my house. It was locked but I should have parked in the driveway and not under the shadow of a large tree to the side of the house. 3.) My sister and I were at a salon in a mall and I was getting my hair cut while she was waiting. A guy with a backpack sat next to her and secretly fished her wallet out of her purse. I had just paid her a few hundred dollars because she was going to stay with me for the summer, babysitting my son. Of course her purse was on the floor, totally laid open with her wallet in plain site. The things I do to keep myself safe: -keep all doors locked all the time - security system - keep lights on in the house (even at night) and have motion sensor flood lights on the exterior - big dog who is encouraged to bark - TV stays on when not at home - reporting suspicious activity - being aware of my surroundings and not putting myself in precarious situations...See MoreWhere do you walk your dog and
Comments (18)Yesterday morning I walked my dog down to the bayou behind my house, and was surprised to see a very large alligator. It was sort of floating, because you could see it in 3 parts....the head, then the body and then the tail. I was surprised because even though I see alligators once in awhile, I usually just see their heads. I like alligators, and this one was a big one....probably easily 10' or more. A few months ago, someone killed a big alligator (12' long) that was basking on my property. It made me furious. I have no idea who did it...in fact, I didn't even know about it until I walked the dog down there and saw the body. Someone said to me, "Well, it could eat your dogs." I said, "I don't care if it ate all my dogs and half the kids in Brazoria County." An exaggeration, but closer to the truth than I might normally admit. Anyway, I went to get my phone to take a picture of the alligator, and the battery was dead, and by the time I got my camera, it was gone. I went out this morning to see if I could see it, but didn't. I looked for it with a flashlight last night....their eyes shine red...but the flashlight was pretty weak, and I didn't see anything. Anyway, my dogs don't swim in the bayou....the bank is high except in that one spot where the other alligator was basking. I hope the alligator stays safe. I normally would hope to see it again, but with so many idiots that kill things just for the hell of it, I hope it will stay out of sight....See MoreBailey's 5!
